After spending, literally a small fortune sorting my plus some years ago now.
i had a brief period of what I can only call driving the car like I nicked it. Most of the miles cruising sections of M and A roads looking for game victims to race. After that period of what I can only call abuse. I ended up with the big end going. Possibly too many horses with too many miles but most probably lack of care and oil starvation.
The old girls been garaged under cover for a few years.. I needed to move her for access the other day, finding that what were brand new tyres with only a few hundred miles on them were flat. Suddenly realising when was the last time I actually checked her.
So with flat spotted tyres she was pushed out into the daylight...
Oh my god what a good looking car.
Still compared to modern marks looks amazing and certainly had the performance to rival most modern sports cars...I always aimed to spank those porsches.
But in all honesty is it really worth re enginging coupes now?
She never and I doubt ever will command the price of other 90's hot hatches. The scarcity of garages and people who know the car is abig turn off. I could buy a running coupes purely to steal the engine and scrap the rest cheaper than engine replacement quotes. Just doesn't sit well..
Should I go full forged with a moderate tune and enjoy that 5 cylinder climax again lol with relative safety, just fit a doner engine and move it on for a massive loss.
But the number of times I literally got out of that car shaking with adrenaline / luck of survival and pure enjoyment. (Not condoning it but Jesus thank god I never got pulled)
Realistically for what I've already sunk in her really makes me question. My sanity thank god the misses never found the receipt.
Hmm I've spent hours contemplating what I should do. Lurking in the forum backgrounds for sometime.

Just writing that has given me the fizz about the car but that could be the beer. So replacement/ rebuild engine. Drivers seat upholstery. That bolster gets you if your in heavy. Under tray never went on and at proper speed something else used to flap. New tyres. Yoko's weren't great in the wet, but then again who wants to rag it in the wet. Never liked the silver apex stood out like sore thumb.

Hi CD - I think we've all been there hiding receipts at some time or another frown. I'll be honest I'm not a big fan of modifications and my hunch is that many issues which owners have may be down to mods but no doubt others will disagree. How much hard earned dosh you sink into the coupe is down to personal circumstances but no doubt regular and correct maintenance is key to avoid major issues. I think there's more trusted garages / Italian independents out there that you may realise but depends where you live. I'm not sure you can compare the coupe to a 90s hot hatch but what I've seen, prices for coupes are hardening due to recent interest in the motoring / classic press smile Good luck with your decision thumb

Insert wolf of wall street one of us gif.

Spend it. Fix the engine that's in it. Buying a shitter and swapping out the engine could go either way, good engine bad engine, who knows. Cost wise I'm sure fixing up the old one will be cheaper.
