I have PM you buddy, can't wait to see the vid.
I thiught standard boost was 0.7, over boost to 0.9 then drop to 0.7 again? I thought 0.5 was base boost only? Yeah that's most likely what it's supposed to do (when it's working properly!) Definitely doesn't go to 1.2bar. On the standard map, engine limiter is set to cut in at 1bar! That whole 1.2bar overboost thing applies to 20V's only. Anyway. I mapped my own ecu, so I haven't used a Dink's chip. But everyone seems to rate them. So if your not into big mods then get Dink's Chip and a MBC and be a happy chappy!

I always thought the boost went to 1.05bar, with the occasional overboost of 1.2 for the 16v turbo's as well, with boost dropping off to 0.6bar at the redline

Hi m8, Nice one for finding it, but to be honest there's not alot you can do o really clean it properly as its a totally sealed unit:( All i did was spray WD40 in both of the bottom pipes, until it came out the opposite pipe, and sprayed loads in the top pipe and leave it for half an hour to soak in. I don't think theres alot to do to clean these, cos once's the springs gone its gone! Maybe better to use a carb cleaner or something with a little bit more pressure behind it, made it boost more but not for long!! But if you've got a boost guage i think its worth spending £15as i've justdone, and getting a Manual Boost Controller and completely by-passing the EBV because it's notoriously rubbish!! Plus do you still have the standard dump valve as this is plastic and prone to leak?.... Sorry can't be more help.... Heres link to where i found 16v T boost levels; http://www.fiatcoupeclub.org/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=483660#Post483660But it is not guaranteed to be fact as i've read many different opinions and haven't had it gauranteed!! Cheers

STARION88 mate if you want to tune the 16vt safely and reliable and no offence to jim here but there is me and saint and begbie who have 16vts and have done for a few years, you know my car is 110% mean and the mods and costs ive gone through.
on the dink chip and the standard smic you can use 1.2bar just watch your temp gauge as the increased fueling and heat from the turbo can cause the car to overheat which is bad for power and the engine ie: the head gasket.
fitting a fmic will stop this ugly overheating or fitting a pace smic kit which are very good at keeping the charge temps down.
just be safe man and i cant wait to see another beuty of a 16vt on the roads as were a dying bread.
msn me man if you need any advice or post on here we will get you all tuned up in no time.
and just to add the standard EBV (pierburg valve) is appauling to say the least i have removed my dawes today and omg the power loss is crazy and the boost take a day to kick in ok not a day but a clean 500revs more and not as quick to full boost,
and for you and jim ill do 3 bar FPR fitting guide minus all the swear words ill be shouting at it
and jim keep up the good work

I can confirm that I have based my project on saints guide as regards to the power anyway. STARION88 I have to say I ask GT_SEB0 for alot of advise because I am a coupe novice I supose. I love to learn and get stuck in and with me being able to ask guys like GT_SEB0 and saint plus a load of other peoiple off here I don't really think I can go wrong. So far my project has only covered the easy things so far, wait till I have to change my turbo and things like that, will learn and reasearch and make sure I can do it bedfore I do do it. Even if it means meeting someone off the forum and who knows. My motto is is just do a load of research before you make your move and you can't go far wrong. As long as you get your info off this forum anyway As for the ebc I cleaned it and refitted it but I think I am goibng to buy a mbc today anyway, afterall it is the next step in my project. Sooner it is finished the happier I will be.

Cheers Guys,
You have certainly made this alot easier for me, and saved me finding out things the hard way!!
The main problem i have is conflicting info!
I have the Dink chip and have been told that if i uprate the fuel pressure on this chip it would run too lean, and i would need another chip, i just need to run it safely really but keepin an eye on the temp guage and setting the boost properly i should have enough warning if she's overheating.
Do i set the boost at 1.2 and the overboost can go over this and do what it does?
Or do i set it at 1.2 at the overboost?
Also does anyone know the correct spark plug gap as the plugs i've got with my chips are 0.020 and seem a bit big?
Waiting for my r-spec dump valve and r-spec MBC to arrive and once thenthis weekend will be fitting them along with my chip, plugs, engine oil and new filter.....
Happy Dayz...

I havn't fitted my chip yet put i'm not sure if yo fit the mbc first at 1.2 then fit the chip. I would of thought that was the best way to do it STARION88, would just get someone like saint or begbie to conform. GT-sebo would also know as well as other forum users too.
As for the fpr I thoght you ad it to stop car running lean with chip?
Are you useing the colder plugs?

Really want to refurb my lights so i'v been reading up on that, can't decide weather to do it with the lights on car or take them out and clean the inside as well. They are not basd but if i'm doing the outside I feel like I got to do the inside.

Jim, Heres the link for the wiring mod, just finished it on mine today; http://coupe.v666.co.uk/Guides.htmAs for the EBV, you leave it attached to your rad with the electrical connector connected. The two bottom pipes you attach to the mbv valve as shown in the instructions that come with it:) As for the top one i just blanked it off by putting a PTFE tape covered bolt into it so it wouldn't cause a boost leak. I bought this R-spec one along with one of there dump valves which sounds awesome! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MANUAL-BOOST-CONTR...A1%7C240%3A1318I know it says for a supra but its universal... It sounds a bit like my Starion, ie the old group B rally monsters! Like a pigeons trapped under the bonnet and Cooooo's everytime you come off boost....Lol

Cheers mate, one query tho. The r-spec mbc, what is the other thong[top right of the pic. the thing with a black arrow and white background? Is it like a key you need to adhjust it or something?
Do you still need to do the wireing mod if you have a webro 255 fuel pump?
Think i'm going to go with the r-spec mbc.
Nice one for the link to the wiring mod guide, I couldn't find it.

Hey Jim,
Managed to get everything done yesterday, waiting for some dry weather now to give her a proper run but i'm worried my turbo's shot:(
That thing in the pic is just a joining one way valve, its very simple to fit as you see in the instructions when yours arrives. To adjust it you just turn the nob on the end of the boost controller.
As for the wiring pump guide you have to ask the pro's but IMO its a worthy mod whatever fuel pump your using, i get 13.2 volts to mine now......

Nice one mate, will do the wiring mod and I understand about the mbc.
What makes you think your turbo is shot? If it is tho mate I would send it too hybrid or get a bigger replacement like t34[i am thinking of getting]. Or maybe get the t34 sent off to hybrid, I was thinking but would it make it much better I am still trying to find out
other wise you could get the standard turbo for reasanbly cheap.
Did you say in one of your old posts that you allready have a project and the coupe was a runaround? If so mate what car you got as project? Maybe think about uprating turbo still because they are great when they are about 300-350 BHP.
Is your turbo smokeing? If so what couler, coukld be seals tho mate?
Give me some more info and maybe a vid or sound recording. the more infio and that the better.

Hey Jim,
I think the turbo's on the way out as when i'm boosting you can hear this ruff raspy noise coming from the exhaust. Its hard to explain, but at first i thought the wategate wasn't fully closing but now i'm not so sure. After fitting all me stage 1 bits i still don't get more than 1 bar boost no matter what i do with the MBC, but i'm just gonna live with it as its taking all my time up! My turbo is definetely not smokin, will have to check the shaft for play,it could be the actuator but don't know how to tell:(
I have an 1988 mitshi starion widebody turbo, tuned by henstead motorsport to 230 BHP at the wheels!! Very good fun tail happy 80's turbo coupe, just rebuilt the FI system and sorted out a few electrical gremlins, noow it needs the rusty arches cutting back and welding but since i got my 16v it was in need of alot of TLC so spent alot of time and money doin her up, so once i'ved one the surface rust on the fiat's arches its all go with the starion......
The 16vt is a pain as i can see that i'll just keep throwing parts at it hoping it'll run right eventually and by which time i'll be skint and have a car thats worth a fraction of what i've spent on it!!! Lol, good fun tho....

They are great cars mate, have to meet up when it is done. I'v always wanted to go in one.
What couler mate?
Were is both the wategate and actuator located on the 16vt?
Maybe live with the coupe and go back to modding it after you have done the great starion, what is it a 2.3 turbo?[if i rember right, the only one I have seen for years clarkson had on top gear]
Were is PEMBROKESHIRE by mate?

Hi jim,
Sorry 4 l8 reply haven't checked this post in a while:)
Pembrokeshire is in wales m8 in the south west.
My starion is the mexican red colour just like the one in top gear but with chrome rims and alot cleaner!!
Its a 2.0 straight 4 turbo, but it runs the turbo of the 2.6 to reduce lag and increase spool up time, plus many other performance mods.
You can set the cruise control at 145mph!! Scary stuff...
I will get some pics up here hopefully tonight m8:)
