My coupe is going to be in need of a couple of new tyres on the rear. I'm no speed merchant nor will I be doing any track days. Does anyone have either Kumho or Nexen tyres on their car? If so, what are your thoughts about them?
Many thanks.
Andrew

I have Kumho Ecsta HS51 and found them great. I choose them based on reviews at the time rating them as the most comfortable tyre (presumably due to softer sidewall) so they likely wouldn't be ideal for trackdays. Not sure about wet performance either as I only use the coupe in the dry, but as far as comfort, wear and dry grip they seem very good.

Andrew Nexen N8000 on all four corners. Never looked back on the horrific Falkens before. Tread pattern similar to Conti Contact Sport. Had them on for circa 2000 miles and been great in damp / wet and dry conditions. Cannot recommend them enough.

Well, I have 225/45/17 Falkens all round - dry weather superb road-holding, although a bit harsh! When they went on10 years ago it seemed a great idea, but then I was 10 years younger then too.
Amazingly the tyres are good after all this time, although I will say that the Coupe was stored in perfect conditions for 6 years, they have only covered about 1500 miles, so pretty much full tread. They were inspected this year and passed as ok, but they will be changed for next year whatever.
I seem to remember them being fine in the wet, but as we haven't had any rain since April (bar two days this week), can't say if they still are. I probably will still only use the car on fine days over winter - shame, but no point in getting it wet if I don't have to.

I have Yokohamas advan on all corners 225 45 16. This was the only tyre I could get up here in that size more for the wider look . In the dry they are superb very good in the wet as well. Pricey but worth it.
I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time
