The club is looking in to sourcing the most commonly needed, yet difficult to get hold of parts for coupes.
Specifically standard (ish) spec items, because those wishing to uprate their Coupes are already pretty well catered for.
To get the ball rolling I'd like to get some opinions on which parts are commonly needed, yet hard to get hold of. For example oil cooler & pipes for 20vt are hard to come by, though in my view a couple of specialists do good replacement kits so this doesn't need covering again.
What else do we need in order to ensure that the Fiat Coupe can remain on the roads?
Register your thoughts on this thread please.
Thanks, Joe.

These are difficult items to purchase now, should I carry on? Yes please Joe. Yourself and the other specialists will have a better idea than anyone of which bits are hard to come by.

Those sponges that go under the bonnet, get wet and rot and no one knows what they're for.
Horsing around's a serious business.

Too little too late. Everything on the above list is no longer available except 3 items.
The club was handed an obsolete list months back by me. A narrow window of 6 weeks was given.
Nothing was done,in fact I wasn't even given a response full stop.
New engines for a grand, new cranks for £200 ,gearboxes for £250 etc etc etc
I personally invested thousands into these parts but unfortunately missed out on all the mechanical components.
So other than service items Fiat Italy have sold everything for peanuts or threw it in the bin.
Only option now is second hand or getting someone to copy them.
Another opportunity missed.

I do not believe that to be the case John.
Nothing was said to me about engines, cranks etc, just about some cosmetic parts in a phone call from a former board member. I don't know whether the offer was made to other board members.
Irrespective of that, as you know, the club does not have anywhere to store such large parts on the offchance that they may be needed by someone in the future.
That is not the club's function, we are not the MG Owners club with all its vast resources and commercial structures behind it.
16VT and X1/9 1500
We must all do our part for the planet. I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.

The above may be true, but there are a network of faithful specialists who I am sure could have been brought together for the love of the car and it would've made good commercial sense. Handbrake cables are easy to source btw, pagid make a quality replacement and are readily available.

Maybe its something to consider as this forums dying as opposed to the MG owners club which is very strong.. I noticed everyone criticising attendance at the agm but what's on offer from the club to entice new members and encourage old faces? I'm keen to see what the new board has to offer as I'm sure the old board was struggling for numbers. Not critisism on my behalf just an observation that needs addressing and maybe including the members in ideas or using inspiration from other forums would be the way forward. Joe the obsolete list is now obsolete,Fiat threw what they couldn't sell to make room for the new vehicle stock. I spent 2 days with one of the Fiat UK reps going through every single part. I was under the impression the correspondence was passed on.

The MG owners club Is a vast commercial organisation which looks to help owners of all MG cars built since the 1930's covering a multitude of models.
This club and forum is about one range of specialist cars which was on sale new in the UK for 6 or 7 years and run by volunteers.
The two are in no way comparable.

Whats done is done! Simple really.
If we can all get together and support the idea of obtaining new important parts then we stand a chance of realising this project.
Joe 78 seems to be the chap enlisted with getting this project of the ground,so as members we have a duty to support and help him and our club go forward and achieve the aim of the new parts project.

There isn't any new parts now which are of any significance.
My point referring to the MG owners club is most of the vehicles haven't been in production for over 40 years or more yet the club actively seek suppliers and contacts specifically to cater for the members needs.
Demand of parts and technical advice will always be top priority for potential new members.
There are vital parts no longer supplied or anywhere in production that are key to the future of this vehicle and inevitably the forum long term.
Its obvious and not a point I Should have to clarify . Its a problem no ones dealing with.
