Has anyone done this? My car really doesn't get the run out its needs and moves every so often.

Is it a big downgrade,i live in a city so not on boost alot generally. The coupe is generally in good shape with the recent respray, cambelt brakes etc.

Insurance ,fuel, reliability and running costs would be generally lower for a car i don't use regularly.

I want to stay in the coupe community, that's a given. Spa is also a definite without a doubt.
Just think it maybe the right move, but only for the right na.

Rare sprint blue vis maybe..or electric blue vis, then le kit.20vt wheels and the black recaro's i have in my current coupe.nice

Who know's...just throwing some thoughts out there.

Insurance is in november along with tax...

went from na to turbo and have driven the na since.

in a lot of ways the na is better around town, its just the laugh factor thats missing!

in saying that I sometimes think about getting my old na back on the road as a daily run around as Im in the same boat, my work run rarely involves coming on boost.

I still have my 20vt plus but use the wifes vis,
still a cracking drive great to look at etc, fuel tax and insurance are not much cheaper although the vis and her last non vis na has proved to be cheaper longterm without the complications of a turbo.
good luck finding a nice vis as there rare now
Dave

Its not even like i use it for work,i got a company car and fuel card .So any distance the company car gets the run around.

I do love the handling of the na though,my bro's one felt more planted.Slight heavier steering. Think id be more confident driving faster, saying that i was alittle over confident at spa in mine

You will definitely miss the turbo!!!

I didn't think I would miss my 16vt half as much as I do. The maintenence costs of my 20v have been MUCH lower ( a rear suspension arm in 18 months), but I'd still pay the premium for a bit more oomph! I'll be looking for a 16vt/20vt before Spa & Nurburgring next year............

Insurance, tax and fuel are no different (between my old 16vt and current VIS - infact my 16vt insurance was cheaper).

You're best off taking a NA out for a spin to see what you think!

Ive driven a 20v non vis and enjoyed that as my bro had one.Really i should of kept his.

16vt insurance does seem cheaper for unknown reasons?

,sprint blue is my choice colour but chance of finding one in na is rocking horse doodoo.Id be looking to get some cash my way aswell.

Who know's maybe just getting fidgety , i love mine but maybe getting my finger nail trapped in the door last week has done it for me.

Being in the fortunate position of having both to hand, I find I still tend to choose the 16NA over the 20vt if I want to *drive* simply for the handling. There's no comparison on the power, but anyone can go quickly in a straight line... the 20 is a quick GT, but the 16 is *special*.

(YMMV of course!)

When the kit's finished, one of the coops will go to fund it. It won't be the NA.

I use my coupe 20vt so infrequently that owning it most of the time is an expensive luxury. And then I drive it. Smile, smile, smile and that's the point of a luxury. Keep the turbo, pound for pound you won't save that much anyway.

in this instance, i'd say keep the 20vt.
the n/a is great fun, and no slouch by any means - BUT given that you have a turbo, you will always be a little underwhelmed by the n/a.

if you were looking to buy your first coupe etc and not sure of what to buy if you were not going to use it much etc i'd say get a n/a, mainly for the lower up keep costs, but in my opinion i would say stick with what you have.

that said, if you wanna buy my 16v.... laugh

Get the turbo sold Reuben and join us on the dark side, there is a very tidy blue late car on eBay at the moment.
I only ever wanted a coupe for the looks so happy without a turbo. Bought an NA for the Father in Law as a cheap (peanuts) runabout and impressed with that as well.

I'd try a vis and an NA because they feel quite different in my opinion. The vis feels more modern but the NA has the hooligan about it, rough and ready laugh

Insurance is cheaper but I reckon fuel will be more or less the same.

If all else fails read the instructions

Having bought a 20V NA VIS for my (now ex) GF we were generally disappointed with it - the gearing was FAR too low for high-speed cruising, it wasn't much better on fuel consumption than my Plus (on average), and, other than turbo-related issues it would've cost as much in maintenance terms on-going as a VT too given that the cambelt, clutch, suspension, etc, cost the same to replace. I suppose brake components were a bit cheaper, and it was definitely a better "city" car due to the low gearing making it feel nippier, but I still would never consider another.

It seems the 20V NA's are a doomed breed in general as they're worth a lot less than VT's yet come with much the same maintenance costs.

Stan, I meant Hooligan in a good way laugh

Guess I'm in the minority then but as I've said in a previous post the non turbo suits me.

My VIS has been faultless in comparison to
My plus... No comparison at all.

Maintainance has been at least a 1/4 of the plus and aftermath usual expensivish bits runs perfectly - even after sitting in the garage for 2'years - it's now being prepd for the scumball rally :-)
