As above and below:

Ok it's not as punchy as the 20v but this appears to be a good deal with full spec and original. Is this the Integrale engine? DVLA and MOT check is spot on for the car of this age. BTW what's the truth about rust being less of an issue with the earlier cars?

That looks a tidy car on the face of it although I would be having a closer look at the o/s rear arch looking at the pics.
The 16vt is the same engine as the integrale so the n/a is probably very similar and both can suffer with worn cams if servicing hasn't been kept up.
Cambelt every 3 years as opposed to 5 for the 20v so worth checking when it was done even though it wasn't many miles ago.
They handle better than a 20v too due to less front end weight.

I actually prefer my 16vt to the 20vt I had before it.

What's the score with the O/S/R wheel arch - does the inner edge appear to have rust or potential paint job ?

That could be rust or overspray as there is mention of having it undersealed.

Well guess what - I've just bought it after some price negotiation yipee

The owner was on the forum and tried to sell it here without success so ended up on Gumtree. Tidy and the engine is solid at 3bar but idle is 900 - bit high? For a 22 year old car the body work is in remarkable condition but the rear arch edges will need attention at some point in the near future. Also the electric mirrors fail to tilt downwards and suspect the console switch may need electrical cleaner. Plastic headlight covers could also do with a clean but can't complain. Placing it in storage from next month then bring it back out in late spring to get the jobs done - well that's the plan anyway unless I loose self control laugh

Well done!

Oil pressure sounds good, especially if that's with a fully warmed-up engine.

The rev counter can read "high" so wouldn't worry unduly, mine does similar but the barnacle widget is an unfailing 790-810.

Mirrors...if they don't tilt outwards either check the connectors in the door jamb. Undo the screw holding the triangular black trim to reveal the 3 allen bolts holding on the mirror. It's just possible you may not need to undo these to pull out the wiring where the connectors are. If you do, cover the hole underneath the bolts in case you drop them down inside the door!

Or as you say whip off the gear stick gaiter and push out the mirror switch from underneath.

The ECU aims for 850rpm. If you pull the idle valve connector off (engine warm) the idle will drop to about 650-750 rpm, and pick up the revs once the connector's back on. If it stalls, or doesn't drop, there are further steps we can discuss later.
