Interested did you read something somewhere about this happening?

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 23/02/2018 17:30

I was speaking to Joe Knight last year and he said he expected there would be a similar event to the 20th anniversary.

That is the extent of my knowledge, I’m afraid!

Count me in :-)
I just watched 2 movies from the 20th ann event...
(Have been in Milano 10 times as part of work - with flight - about time to try it in a car...)

Watching this space for news wink

The 25th anniversary is January 2019 - not sure I'd fancy a cross-continent trip in the middle of a European winter - perhaps it will happen later in the same year

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 14/03/2018 16:20

The launch was at the 1993 show, so it should be 2018, but the last anniversary event in 2014 was 20 years after it first went on sale in Europe, and took place in late May/early June, just in time to catch the opening of the Stelvio pass on the way back home wink

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 03/06/2018 09:50

And just in time for the opening of the St Bernard pass on the way there smile

Fantastic event it was too.

Does that huge grin mean it's going ahead for 2019?

I think that's just Toby (Gripped) reminiscing about the trip...

Brian, I think you should pop into the mayor's office while you're over there in September and ask him what's being organised laugh

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 05/06/2018 15:57

Sound like a very good idea i may just look this mayor up and make an appointment for then.

The various regions in Italy hold annual Coupé meets. They are not quite as spectacular as the anniversary events that have been held in Turin but they are often 3 day / weekend events.

I just missed This One...

And This One Too frown

There were rumours about this but the Italian club officials I often speak to have been saying publicly that it is highly unlikely they'll organise another huge event like the 10th & 20th events. But highly unlikely is far from a definitely not.

That said I do know it took a great deal of time and effort from the fellows to arrange the last event and I'm not sure if are up for taking on such a task again.

We all loved the event but you would have to have been blind not to see how stressed some of those fellows were during the running of the event. I'm not sure if they really enjoyed it as much as we all did frown

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 07/06/2018 14:41

oh, that's a grave shame...

it was stressful enough, bookending-the-convoy to Thirlstane last weekend (mostly blameable on the 2-way radios)

I can't imagine being at the helm of something that size...!

Awesome Bob what about this one also 15° 'Italia Classic Parade' raduno a Bardolino

Who would be the best persons to speak to about events coming up in the north of Italy in September/October?

Do you use Facebook?
Posted By: Barmybob

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 10/06/2018 13:48

The reason I ask is because many of the Italians speak little or no English but you'll find them on Facebook. Facebook has auto translate and this allows multi lingual conversations, each party just has to accept that it's not always 100%.

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 10/06/2018 17:21

Oh that's a good idea, someone to collate all the information and get the meets publicised.

Just got to convince people to get their coupés across the channel then. It will be a bit of a fright to all the minimal mileage, high value brigade smile

So far we've done just shy of 2700 miles on our current trip. We've got a few more days here then our next stop is in mid France before we head home. that will be about 900 miles if we don't deviate. But I just know we'll head off somewhere smile

Sounds great Bob, just a little over a month until I take mine for a five week round trip taking in France Switzerland Italy, and then back via Switzerland again, Luxembourg and back to the tunnel- can’t wait!

I must confess though - I've not got the coupé this time. I'm in a TT roadster - DSG but a diesel shocked paper loser

Tremendous news

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 10/11/2018 09:20

Ok finally yes Italy has released dates for a mini gathering on the 22nd & 23rd June 2109, I say mini as the weekend won't be anything like the 20th anniversary, they're keeping it small so no planned visit to the Pininfarina factory or the Lingotto roof top, it'll be meeting, a drive somewhere and then lunch so please if you think they're organising hotels etc like 2014 they won't be, if we go we'd have to book that ourselves and the feeling is they're going big again for the 30th in 2024.

While we've been waiting for dates I've been chatting with Rene who runs the Dutch club and now they/we know it's June the feedback is the dates don't work for their holiday period, I think many here in the UK would also struggle but we need your feedback. There's also a proposed road trip for late August where we could meet the Dutch and some other owners from France and Germany, travel and stay in France, Luxembourg, Austria back up the East side of the Alps, Germany, home or Holland, it needs further discussion for sure but either the club will be involved celebrating 25 years in form or another.

Thoughts?

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 10/11/2018 17:19

Sounds like maybe a small contingent from the club might make the trip in June? I would definitely go and then drop in on my sister, although Travelling through Italy with Doris and no air con was a tad warm.

We have been accepted for the 2019 Silverstone Classic and provisionally accepted for a track parade to celebrate the 25 th Anniversary- might that be a runner for our club and some of the other European coupe owners? It’s a good weekend and the facilities are excellent?

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 11/11/2018 11:38

As Joe told you , we have no input in the Italian organization of the 25th anniversary. we have to wait until they let us know what the plans are and the numbers of guests that can join are going to be, there are some of us who have a problem with the date and som not, so there will be a split up, i think a road trip late August is great the only thing is that there is the holiday season is still going on , so we have to book as soon as possible the accommodations , and there will be more traffic on the roads.

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 12/11/2018 20:40

Hi everyone. Sorry my bad english I hope you understand me! Many of you know me, I'm Giorgio and you know my team Franco and Luca for organizing the 10 years of the fiat Coupé in 2004; organized the 20th anniversary of fiat Coupe. And now after 5 years we begin to organize a historic and European event for the 25th anniversary of fiat coupé .. All the info are top secret, but the event will be on 22 and 23 June 2019 in the city of Turin. We are building a dedicated website and every official news will be published on the new website www.clubdelcoupefiat.piemonte.it or facebook: sezione piemonte club del coupe fiat. The only real news will be in the final program in January. Stay tuned- Regards. Giorgio

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 09/01/2019 12:39

Now that we're 2019 and that much closer to our Turin road trip it raises the question for planning, the duration, where we stay and how we get there.
I'm hoping Giorgio will update us with hotel details for Turin, this and the program so assuming the anniversary meeting is the two days 22nd-23rd June I was looking at travelling over early on 20th for a night in Switzerland, Friday arrive in Turin, enjoy the weekend and reverse it so I'd travel back to the UK on the Tuesday afternoon, if that sounds right let me know so I get an idea of how many rooms to book for both sides of the journey.

Sounds like a plan, we will definitely travel down with y'all Joe and most likely back again too - unless babysitter works out really well and we take a detour to NE Italy to visit an old friend at her small boutique hotel on the way back.

Really sorry to hear your news Neil - hang in there - but I will keep my fingers crossed you manage to join us

It’s certainly a very long day. Question is, where do we stop otherwise?

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 24/01/2019 14:08

From experience - much nicer to stay eu side somewhere and have a quality beer to two in a new place- then to spend the night before uk side near a ferry terminal.

But obviously it adds another night (or two) to the travel...

regards

Totally agree, driving in Europe is so much nicer then the UK roads and traffic.

I'm happy to go the extra night if everyone is, means a possible extra night on the return leg of the journey as well.

Thanks for bringing this up as I was struggling to see how we would get down there in one drive.

I am up for an extra night (each way) to stay in europe for all the very good reasons so far.

Dover is a 3 hr drive for us

I'm sure in our younger years we would have seen this as a challenge arriving at the bar in Bern exhausted but happy, but now being of a more mature age I'm sure we'd all prefer an enjoyable ride down with an extra night to take in the sites and of course stopping for a spot of lunch laugh

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 24/01/2019 19:14

Still looking to get to this one.

This trip was just going to be me and my film maker but I can't leave Trish at home, the dates straddle our wedding anniversary!

The Coupé needs loads of work doing too - got most of the parts just need to get the enthusiasm to fit them and then get other work booked in!

And finally I have to try and convince myself I want to drive the Coupé that far again. Since Norway I've not gone further than 200 miles in any one trip! I have even looked into sticking a tow bar on the Audi and taking the Coupé on a trailer shocked

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 24/01/2019 20:15

Id love to put my name down for this but afraid its likely going to be the 30th Anniversary for us.

If I can add we returned in October from an awesome 2 week trip from Bonnie Scotland to the north of Italy. The coupe was very good at eating up the miles and covering just over 2400 miles round trip.

We got the ferry from Newcastle to Ijmuiden. Leaving the ferry on the morning feeling fresh and ready for the first overnight stop in Mulhouse was really the best way to do it considering getting to Italy the fastest way for us. So I had managed at least 8hours and 460 miles on that first day but to be honest that was a real push and would perhaps cut that down for any future trips.

Our route from Ijmuiden, Germany, Switzerland and into Italy via the San Gotthard Pass.

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 25/01/2019 11:47

Could another option be to break up the European (to Bern) side of the trip into 2 x 4 hour chunks? Have a 1/2 to 1 hour rest half way, then do the rest. Still a 9 hours trip total, so may be too much for some.

We all rendezvous at Dover first, fairly early. Those travelling far may come over the night before, so are fresh for the European (to Bern) part.

It’s certainly a very long day. Question is, where do we stop otherwise?

Clint what would your travel plans be, drive down on the first day and stay near Dover?

Probably drive to you and stay overnight and head off with you the next morning I guess. Call me 🤙

Extra night each way is fine for me. I would drive down from Leicester and stop overnight in Dover before we headed across the channel regardless as it is 5-6hrs from my location.

You would all save loads of hours by getting over the channel in the evening and staying the night France side and an early start the next morning.
I've done it countless times and it really tells at the end of the day.

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 26/01/2019 17:31

I'm still unlikely to be able to make this trip, here's some distance experience...

We regularly do Hemel to Struan (Isle of Skye) regularly, both in the coupe and in the Bravo. 660 miles, and usually around ten hours of driving. We do that in a day, leaving around seven (in both directions). It's better going up because the roads once you get north of Glasgow are both quieter and more interesting than motorway; coming home it can get tedious and slow.

We also do Hemel to Berlin, most recently over xmas, and that's boring motorway all the way. That's around 850 miles, and again we do it in one day both ways. The average speed is a little higher (though we do remember that the speed limits on the continent do also apply to the British) and our normal run leaves home at 0430 and gets us to Berlin at between six and eight, depending how much we stop for food. Again, we've done it in Coupes - 16NA and 20VT - and in the diesel bravo and the cruise control is bloody useful. You need to keep your wits about you on the motorway if you're doing 130kph or so because some bozo can be behind you at 300kph - from first visible to up your backside in fifteen seconds or so.

So yes, it is quite possible to do long distances without a break (other than that enforced by the crossing, and fuel stops) but it helps no end if there are two of you driving. A break is definitely indicated.

Five years ago we spent a week getting to Torino, stopping first in Ulm in Germany and then a short break in Brescia.

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 28/01/2019 14:04

Even if we stay French side and leave early it's still an 8hr drive whatever way you look at it, it's a trip we're meant to enjoy so I for one will welcome a more relaxed drive and extra day, itinerary so far is:

Dover-Dunkirk 9am ferry 19th June, present costs return are £130.00.
1st night Best Western Hotel Crystal in Nancy, 5.5hrs driving from Dunkirk, costs £89.00 - £120.00.
2nd night Geneva not Bern so we have more choices for routes to Turin, Best Western Hotel Porte Sud de Geneva, costs £66.00 - £100.00.
3rd, 4th and 5th nights in Turin (Giorgio hopefully very soon with this info)
6th and 7th could be the reverse of our route down or different as some may choose to hit it hard home, myself I was thinking leave Italy and heading back through France to stay in Paris 24th, ferry back on the afternoon of the 25th.

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 28/01/2019 14:10

Thanks for the info Joe, is it down to individuals to book hotels and ferry passage or do you envisage a group booking once Giorgio gets back in touch?
Posted By: Countrycruising

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 28/01/2019 14:19

I'm having to assume that Giorgio is organising the Turin hotel so we're all in one place much like it was for 2014.
For our travel and return it could either be organised as a group booking which I'm happy to do, or independently, it's down to you guys but I know I will have a few in convoy, Clint, PhilW, Sam I think and Reuben as well if he can get the time off.

Unfortunately I won't be going, but for those who are, it is worth checking AFerry as they are frequently offering discounts on all the channel crossings.

I used to use them on the Dover- Dunkirk route when I was organising the SpaItalia weekends.

Hi guys . Now, you have to wait for the final program we are writing at this time. Tomorrow we go to a restaurant for lunch on Sunday, June 23rd. Then we are waiting for the participation costs of the dinner on June 22nd. We are waiting for the costs of an Italian ice cream shop. We are waiting for answers from sponsor Birra Menabrea and MTM Tappetini. Then give the complete program.

For hotel for the night between the 22nd and the 23rd we will give you 3 Hotel names to which you will have a lower cost. The choice of the hotel is free and you have to book the night after you enter the list of participants. The whole program will be visible on the website www.clubdelcoupefiat.piemonte.it and this is the only truth. The program so far does not know anyone but only me and Franco

We've decided to pull out frown

I had lined up a trailer and booked in a tow bar fit but this morning I cancelled the tow bar. I have a lot of plans for 2019 and this Turin trip was starting to affect those plans. So I just have to drop out!

We may still look at flying over but the Coupé won't be going.

Hi Giorgio
Very interested in joining you. Diana and I had a fabulous time in Turin at the 20th Anniversary event in 2014. It would be good to meet up again with the many friends we made from across Europe. But it’s a long drive from North West England.
Would it be possible to see the outline program before committing to the trip?
Best wishes Dave (Gilbo) Gilburt

25th ANNIVERSARY OF FIAT COUPE '
Well, we finally managed to organize everything and on the Piedmont site, http://www.clubdelcoupefiat.piemonte.it/25th/Home
there is already some precise info. I stress this again that it is reserved for members of the Fiat Coupé club and crews coming from abroad on specific request of the City of Turin. Ahemm, news of the last hour, today the City of Turin has changed it again so that for now it's all in stand by again. But now nobody stops and soon we will open the registration.

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 20/02/2019 09:11

The way I'm reading this is there's limited space to join the venue, 40-45 cars which will be open to registration so the first ones to confirm and pay get to park are shine. My question is if we don't get on the list can we still join the weekends activities, hotels etc but park else where.

The worst that could happen is that you'll need an IDP, just as for the US for example

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 22/02/2019 17:43

Though getting the IDP might take some time, as they're already having issues getting them to lorry drivers (12,000 requested, 1,000 delivered, according to a news report I heard a week or so ago).

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 22/02/2019 17:44

Thinks: my word, am I the only person here old enough to have had to have had an IDP the first time I drove in Europe?

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 23/02/2019 17:22

I've had several IDPs in the past, as well a real (green) green cards for insurance.

Oh yes, real green cards too.

I'm lurking on this post but hesitant to make any decisions for that very reason. The Idiots....sorry misspelt that - the politicians... clearly have no clue about what will happen. Extension or no extension - the main issue for eu travel appears to be the French. The Italians are in a pretty anti-eu mood and are likely not to want to punish Brit tourists too much. But the French - sounds like they are demanding green card for the car via your insurer as a minimum- but maybe they will demand even more.

I could be bellicose and say to hell with it I guess....but don't fancy finding out miles from home that I'm in breach of x y and z new rules as a non European....the French like to do things via your pocket by the side of the road....

Will keep watching this post develop.

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 28/02/2019 15:03

I can't see that it's a problem, insurance companies are sending out emails advising applying for green cards 14 days in advance just like we used to have to do, Post Offices (if you can still find one) are still issuing IDPs like they always have been, and for my upcoming visits to Assen and Turin, I can try to minimise the time spent driving in France...

We are improving and modifying the program for you extra Italy owners. We have started registrations for Italians and on 10/12 March we will have the program in English for all our European friends. You will have 4 hotels to fill in for you. You decide where to go. They are big hotels.

I emailed Giorgio last week just to get some clarity on the dates and numbers, his reply.

Hi, Joe Knight
we have a total of 100 parking spaces and 60 Italian and 40 extra Italian cars. On March 15, the program will be on the site and we want all European nations to be represented. The event takes place in the heart of the city of Turin. More detailed information we will have from 15 to 20 March when the Italian owners have already registered and we will see how many free parking spaces we will still have available. I hope I have done a good translation. And I hope you understand our problems and I thank you

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 12/03/2019 14:00

I'm still wondering which route / how long to take getting there and back...

Last time I took the quickest route down, mostly in France on Autoroutes, and paid around £100 for the privilege, but no stopping at toll booths with a Liber-t tag. Took an early Thursday morning ferry to Calais, drove from down to Lyon and stayed the night, then into Italy via the Frejus tunnel  to lunch near the Pininfarina place, Lingotto and museum on Saturday, Fiat museum and police escort through Turin on Sunday. Mirafiori on Monday then back via the Stelvio Pass cool and stayed the night just the other side in Prato Allo Stelvio, then on to Reimerath just south of the 'Ring, up the next day for 3 laps then on to the Abarth Museum in Lier, Belgium and then Calais for a Tuesday evening ferry back to Blighty.

Can payment be sent by PayPal?
Posted By: DaveG

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 14/03/2019 13:50

I recommend TransferWise for a direct bank transfer, much lower commission and better exchange rates. If you use a referral link I give you, you can get a free or discounted transfer (and I get a credit too, but only if you transfer over £200). I started using it for the last Turin trip (where we paid a larger amount in advance). On smaller transfers the savings are less, but you can enter an amount in PayPal and see how much you have to pay in GBP and you can do the same with Transfer Wise and calculate the saving...

Used the drive back from work basically telling myself Joe's absolutely right- what's the point of having the car if not to take it out and feel the Italian Sunshine. Why haven't I just booked? and bo**ocks to Brexit. I'd convinced myself to pay the funds and get on the list.

I could taste the italian cold beer in the sun.

Return home to be reminded I've already booked for something in London.... on the 22nd!!. A long promised event!. Can't see anyway out of it...

Talk about gutted...bugger bugger bugger-how can both event come down to the same weekend?

That's how I understood it too Franck- I applied and have an email from them saying the organisers decide and let the owner know in due course. I originally thought this was mandatory but it appears a separate event from the anniversary plans

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 26/03/2019 09:28

Is there likely to be a convoy heading out there or are we just making our own way to Turin?

I have a couple of options being this far north;
Ferry across from Newcastle and meet up with the Dutch/Belgian group or drive down to the south coast and join whatever convoy is organised.

The ferry will save me a few hundred road miles but takes a fair bit longer so open to suggestions. Is there anybody coming down from Scotland?

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 26/03/2019 10:48

Rob my rough itinerary at the moment is:

18th evening in Ashford/Dover
19th Ferry/Tunnel 1x night France
20th 1x night Geneva
21st-23rd 3x nights Turin
24th 1x night St Tropez
25th 1x night Paris
26th Ferry/Tunnel Return

Nothing is booked yet as I'm still researching hotels but that's the general idea of dates etc, 3x other guys are with me and others are making there own way, Marc from Holland is coming down with 3x owners so there's a group you could convoy with.

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 26/03/2019 12:44

I'm looking at a shorter round trip, possibly repeating the return via the Stelvio pass, 'Ring and Abarth Museum

Thu 20th early morning ferry/tunnel, overnight in France/Germany maybe even Switzerland
Fri 21st drive via St. Bernard Pass to Turin, overnight in Turin
Sat 22nd day and night in Turin
Sun 23rd day in Turin, head north and overnight in Italy/Austria?
Mon 24th head to the 'Ring again?
Tue 25th a few laps of the 'Ring then head to Abarth museum and evening ferry/tunnel return

What do people think about renting a villa or similar for a few nights near Turin?

https://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/rentals/turin/5243456

This is an expensive example, but shows what might be on offer ... If between 8 or 9 of us it wouldn't be so much a night ...

Would be like a mini meet with a few coupes in the grounds. laugh

That's a cracking idea, but would probably only work if the "group" all stayed the same number of nights, and it might prove difficult for us all to agree on anything other than two nights (Friday and Saturday)

If you get the right place, the extra is not so much. https://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/rentals/montafia/7441267

Based on 6 people, total price for 3 nights is £288, for 2 nights £194. I would think the extra for the people wanting to stay the extra night is not huge for 2/3 people to share?

Downside for this place is the 1 hour to Turin.

Yes cool, toll wise it's gone up, if we take the A6 it'll cost around £150.00, it's an early start to reach Paris by dinner time but as it's motorway we'll cruise it.

With regard to the tolls through France, would it be a case of getting a tag or paying at the booths
and do you have to buy the tags over there, or can you buy them from Uk?

you can buy an Emovis tag before you leave the UK, then use while you are abroad. You are automatically billed from your bank account. You pay a small rental for the tag, but only on the months you use it https://www.emovis-tag.co.uk/

Thanks Joe,

I am still going to have to take the fast route through France due to work commitments so will see you all in Turin on the 21st. There are two Holiday Inn's in Turin- is the plan to stay in the one that Giorgio recommended?

I stripped out the 20vt front end underneath for a complete refresh and then decided to do the rear too.

But with moving house this year already, I was too ambitious and the car is up on my ramps pretty much untouched since October last year, still awaiting the customary clean and protection to the underside before putting everything else back on on the car. Not least I also wanted to get the centre console out and sort it too, I have a n/s door mirror to replace (minor ramps mistake) and toying with decatting too as turbo been rebuilt.

At least most parts are back from powder coating (painting) now though.

My 16v needs belts etc doing as I they are well overdue and it stresses me out too much when I do drive it, plus I have a list as long as both my arms I would want to do before showing that car as it is a bit tired bless it.

Really hope you all have loads of fun and looking forward to the updates, pictures and videos from you all.

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 10/05/2019 20:20

There are a few options to join tours while we're in Turin, the Centro Storico Fiat museum is offering a 1.5hr guided tour on the Sunday afternoon, time to be confirmed but it might fit in nicely after out lunch.

https://m.facebook.com/centrostoricofiat/

.... the other one is a tour of the Lingotto,

Turino Lingotto tour

Not sure its in English so you might need to translate.

If you fancy either of these let me know so we have an idea of numbers.

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 10/05/2019 23:50

I was planning to visit Centro Storico again anyway on Sunday afternoon (only open on Sundays, 10am-7pm, easy to get to by underground from Holiday Inn) so may be interested in a guided tour.

Your Lingotto link is broken but there's an english page https://www.pinacoteca-agnelli.it/visit/guided-tours/ and it looks as though you can wander around with an Audio Guide pretty cheaply. It would be nice if we could meet Chris Bangle again, can you organise that?

Along with the Dutch contingent (meeting just outside Basel Thursday evening) I'm hoping to visit the FCA Heritage Hub in part of the old Mirafiori factory, perhaps on Monday?

And maybe Pininfarina again at Cambiano? https://pininfarina.it/en/museum/ (Visits must be booked in advance and are allowed for groups of at least 5 people)

There's also the Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile in Turin, open every day from 10am

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 12/05/2019 09:03

Hi Dave,

the thread Joe posted is a result of me informing with the various musea.

* The Centro Storico has no guided tours, but they told me 1,5 hours is enough to visit the museum by ourselves (after the lunch in the Atlantic)
* Lingotto has guided tours and they will organise it on the 24th afternoon especially for us. I will ask them whether we can go on the test track by car. If the tour is in Italian only, I can translate. But I will ask for an English speaking guide
* Unfortunately Pininfarina is closed the whole week from the 24th onwards, since the 24th is a bank holiday in Turin. We are welcome on the Friday before, but we will not make that in time
* I sent an email to the press office of FCA about the heritage hub, since a contact was not to be found on their website. The exhibition was opened at the beginning op April, but it is not clear to me whether it is already open for the public or not. No answer from them yet, but will keep you posted!

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 16/05/2019 09:19

Hi everyone,

an update on the tour to Lingotto.

A tour around Lingotto is arranged on Monday the 24th form 9-12 hours, especially for us. It will be with an English speaking guide. The tour includes a walk around the premises, going up to the socalled pista parabolica, a visit to the Museo dell'Automobile and concludes with a drink in the Museo del Vermouth.

The group has to be a minimum of 10 persons and a maximum of 14 persons.

Cost: € 55,- per person.

It is possible to go up by car to the pista parabolica, but the cost of the tour then rises to € 135,- per person.

My suggestion would be to make reservations for the tour for €55,- and arrange on the spot who wants to go up by car. What are your thoughts?
Posted By: DaveG

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 16/05/2019 12:40

Been there, done that, and TBH driving around the pista parabolica was a bit of a let down, it's old and bumpy and you can't get much speed up before having to stop again at the end of the semi-circle. Driving up and down the ramps in a line of Coupes was much more fun (and even walking down/up again afterwards)

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 20/05/2019 17:04

Regarding the Pininfarina museum I got news. They just informed me we are welcome to come on Tuesday the 25th of June. The offered starting hours are 10.00 / 11 / 15 / 16 o'clock. I think we should do this in the morning.

There are two possibilities:
1. a simple tour of 1 hour to visit the collection, price € 10,-
2. a visit of the collection plus an explanation of the design department by the Chief Designer. This tour will take 2 hours, price € 20,-. Included is a cup of Italian coffee and a souvenir.

I am very happy that this is possible, since they first told me they were closed for the whole week.

Who wants to join me?

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 21/05/2019 18:51

Another update on the Lingotto tour:

* I managed to move it to 10.00 o'clock, so we can wake up in the morning and go over there in a more relaxed way.

* I made a miscalculation on the number of people (I calculated Dave three times, lol). This means we still have 1 spot available. Who wants to join us?

* About going up on the roof to the track by car. The cost of hiring the track is € 700,-. If all 14 persons decide to go up by car, it will cost € 50,- per person. If for instance only 10 go up the price will be € 70,- for those people going up. You need to add this price to the € 55,- which is for the tour.

* I need to pay the tour 15 days in advance, so please let me know what your preference is

I assume you want us all to pay our € 55 (+ track) to you within the next 2 weeks? I was referring to the planned visit to pininfarina (not to Lingotto, and not to the roof-top track) but there are just 3 of us at the moment, and we need a minimum of 5. My itinerary is still open at the moment, I am trying all avenues to see if a visit to the Heritage Hub is still possible...

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 23/05/2019 08:01

Hi All,

Here is the design that I was thinking for the Turin trip this year. They are separate to what the organisers have prepared as part of the event and not intended to replace that.

The images are magnetic sign and t-shirt. The t-shirt logo shown is either vinyl print or sublimation, but I am waiting for the club shop to tell me if they can do an embroidery of the design onto a polo shirt in silver thread too.

What do members think?

We are in the process of expanding the range of items in the club shop so the design can be printed onto pretty much everything offered, eg different style of t-shirt, bags, caps etc. It would also work on cups or mugs.

You will be able to order your t-shirt from the club shop when finalised, where you can give sizing etc at time of order. Price will depend on numbers t shirts and signs, plus any discounts or subsidies I am currently working on getting us.

At this stage I just need a list of how many people want the magnetic sign so please mark your name as below. They are 222mm x 292mm in size. I wont order them until I have updated you with the final cost.

Agreed Rob, as the design on the polo will be smaller they are looking at thread count and quality of the image as its quite complex.

For the polo shirt I think the design will look better as per the polo shirt with a small laurel wreath, it looks too big on the design presented, IMHO of course (plus a lower thread count wink )

Yes, I need to pay everything in advance, so the cost of the tour and the cost of the track. I can only establish what everybody needs to pay when I know what the preferences are.

For now the situation is:
Marc, 2p, ?
Kevin 2p, ?
Paul 2p, ?
Dave 2p, no track
Joe, 1p, track
Rob, 1p, ?
Alex, 1p, ?
Andrew, 1p, ?
myself, 1p, only if 10 people go up

So please let me know!

I think it is wise to transfer the money to me and I will pay Lingotto. Can everybody let me know this weekend? I will give you my bankdetails in a couple of days.

Signs ordered. According to the organisers list there are 11 of us travelling from the UK so I have ordered a few extra over this in case of gifts etc.

The board has very kindly agreed to subsidise the cost of both signs and t-shirts. Depending on the final cost of the t-shirts the signs will either be £5 each, or more likely no cost, to those travelling on behalf of the club. I hope this is acceptable to those requesting signs smile I need the address you would like your sign posting to via PM on this forum asap so I can get them to you in time. If you are travelling in convoy eg with Joe, I will post those to one address to keep postage cost down. Otherwise I can hand them out on the Friday when we are all in Turin.

After feedback, I am getting the revised t-shirt design back on Wednesday, (similar design to current one but with a smaller laurel wreath) and hopefully the embroidered design too. I will post it up here and the link in the club shop will appear shortly after that.

Hi guys,

I will confirm the tour to Lingotto for 13 people without going up on the roof, since I think this is the general feeling.

Please wire € 55,- per person to the following bank account: NL32 RABO 0116 8324 87 to the attention of VJHW Mes in Goirle, the Netherlands.

I will make sure the total amount will be paid to Lingotto in time.

Thanks al lot!

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 03/06/2019 08:15

Ok everyone I have some great news from Virginie, she has secured a better deal for the Lingotto tour and we can now go up on the roof top with our cars for 72.00 euros each which is awesome thumb

So for everyone who has paid 55 euros the extra can be paid in cash when we meet up in Turin, for those who haven't sent any money yet can you please send the full amount, we will need a minimum group of 13 people.
Posted By: DaveG

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 03/06/2019 09:55

Just to clarify, the € 72 each is for the tour *and* the roof top drive, ie: the roof top drive is only an extra € 17 each, based on 13 people (not 13 cars)

I'm in (x 2) and will pay cash in Turin since I already paid Virginie for the tour
Posted By: Countrycruising

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 04/06/2019 11:13

Hello everyone!

what a great news that was we can experience the Lingotto tour with the roof top included.

I received your money transfers, many thanks! I will make sure payment will be made to the organisation in time.

To be transparant about the calculations, the roof top price dropped from € 700,- to € 220,-, because the management of Fiat decided to do this for us as owners of Coupé Fiat. Since we have a group of 13 people, the price for the rooftop is € 17,- each (not per car).

I will post the program of the tour later on. There's still 1 place left to join the group….

Regarding the Pininfarina tour on Tuesday 25th, I'm still looking for two people to join us. That's the only way I can guarantee a meeting with the Chief Designer. Anybody who wants to join us for € 25,-????

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 04/06/2019 14:31

Embroidery Logo for the Turin trip back from the club shop. It reflects the feedback received and looks pretty good I think. The test piece was against a grey background just for them to see if that worked with silver and it looks sharp on all other colours, with minor changes if shirt colour is grey or black.

The second image shows other items in the range as we are expanding the garments in the club shop.

The link will be posted tomorrow lunchtime and members need to log in and buy their shirt by Saturday 8th at the very latest to guarantee delivery. I will post the link tomorrow and also PM.

The club board have kindly agreed to sponsor each member to the cost of £10 in total for clothing for the trip. So for example if you select a £15.99 polo then I will sort out a £10 refund to you in Turin making the shirt around a fiver in member cost.

You need to have purchased your garments by Saturday 8th June in order for them to be delivered on time.

As stated the club will sponsor £10 of your order cost per member attending the Turin celebration. Select the items and colours you would like and then I will reimburse members at the meeting

Just for info- when I designed the magnetic signs I also had a look at other things that the design could go on. Mugs are £8, caps are £9.99, and a non embroidered t-shirt for £15.99. If anyone wants these items then just let me know and I will order. As they are not via the club shop I will just need your size regarding the t-shirt

As promised I'm giving you the details of the Lingotto tour.

Monday the 24th of June we start at 10.00 o'clock with a visit to the Museo dell'Auto. The entrance of the museum is also our meeting point. The address is: Corso Unità d'Italia 40, 10126 Torino. Website: http://www.museoauto.it/website/en/info/dove-siamo
After visiting the museum we will visit the Lingotto district.
Then the big moment arrives: we go up with our cars on the roof, to the socalled 'pista parabolica'.
We continue our tour with visiting the Pinacoteca Agnelli.
And we conclude at around 13.00 o'clock at the Museo del Vermouth with a drink.

We will be accompanied by an English speaking guide.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me.

Let's make it a tour to remember!!!

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 09/06/2019 18:25

Giorgio Basso asked me to give you some updates on the weekend itself. He is rather busy with the organisation of the event, that he does not have the time anymore to post updates on this forum. So let me be his voice.

The meeting point saturday morning is not at Caffé Vittorio anymore, but at Caffé Lab (https://www.labtorino.com/aperitivo/en/contacts/). This caffé is also on Piazza Vittorio Veneto. There we will have a better reception.
Saturday our cars will be on display on Piazza Vittorio Veneto, which is a 10 minute walk to Parco Valentino. We will stay there untill 23.00 o'clock. After that we can take our cars back to the hotel.
Sunday we display our cars in a different spot, namely at the Murazzi which is alongside river Po. It is told to be a wonderful place. We are there until 12.00 o'clock after which we go to Hotel Atlantic for the closing lunch.

Some of us visit after lunch the Centro Storico Fiat which is open only on Sundays until 19.00 o'clock.

Since this is my first Italian event I understood that 5 years ago people washed their cars at their hotel. So let's bring your spunge and soap!

Last but not least: leave some room in your car for all the gifts and gadgets, since Giorgio told me there will be many....

Re: 25 Years of The Coupe - Turin 2019 - 10/06/2019 10:46

Thanks Virginie, less than 2 weeks to go now...

On the Saturday, did you/Giorgio really mean up until 23:00 (11pm) for us to keep our cars at the Piazza? I assume that we are parking all 80+ Coupes that are registered in the off-street parking in the square (perhaps even right outside Cafe Lab?) and then wandering off to Parco del Valentino (a 15-20 minute walk away) where they have various events and exhibits/stands but we can't leave with our Coupe until after 23:00 (11pm)?

On the list of events it mentions on Saturday at 15.30 p.m. - Fiat Coupé 25th Anniversary Parade - what is this?

Feels like the appropriate time to wish everyone that is going (UK Members and our Coupe Friends in Europe) a fantastic, happy and above all safe trip to Italia!

I am absolutely gutted not to be able to attend this event - due to a pre-standing family commitment over - I could almost taste the ice cold Italian beer...!

With best wishes to all that attend I hope last minute fettling of our cars goes well and you simply have a fantastic time with your coupes doing what they were designed to do -driving quickly in the Italian sunshine, with no air con! I and I am sure all of us are looking forward to hearing all of your adventures!!

Bon Voyage to all!!

Sounding like some of you guys are taking a bit of heavy pasting getting through to Italia,

Should a coupe go down - the temptation will be to head straight back with it to blighty - but you may want to continue to destination with out it and at least savour the 25th Anniversary event as its pre-paid?

Wishing all well!

Hi all

Had a great time, meeting many new friends from Italy, Holland, UK, Belgium, Germany and Denmark.

Here is a car channel showing off our cars - in Italian. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emBVMXspRjw

The guys (Giorgio, France et al) from the Piemonte Coupe club are being interviewed.

Lots of views of our cars in the Piazza Vittorio Veneto in Turin.

Cheers

Hopefully for those that don't have a Facebook account you'll still be able to view my pictures in the link below, if not I'll upload a few of my favorites.

Fiat Coupe 25th anniversaryTurin 25th anniversary

The weekend was awesome and much like 2014 we were spoiled with gifts, clothing, beer and memorable items of which I can now add to the gifts received for the 20th. Our Italian friends did a fantastic job of organising the weekend, Saturday we enjoyed our group Coupe car park, short walk to view the new and classic cars in the park, then a group parade around the streets in the afternoon followed by an evening meal, a long day but we loved every minute, well maybe not every minute, especially when someone reversed into my coupe.... no names tongue
