FCCUK Rolling Road day - Aberdeen - 5th of July

FCCUK Rolling Road day - Aberdeen - 5th of July - 19/06/2008 12:29

Right guys as posted in the other thread I'm organising a Rolling Road day for us at my work.

Price would be £30 max, with me taking AFR and boost readings - others can be obatained, ie injector duty, air intake etc etc. Please can I ask you to make sure your car is mechanically sound, I'm sure they all will be anyway! \:\)

I'm looking for you guys to tell me when is best, an evening or weekend. If it was a Sunday we could make a good day of it by putting on a BBQ or something, I'm open to suggestions.

Saturday the 5th of July '08 @10am

Interested

Any time is good for me, although I’d hazard a weekend is best given that lots of these people live at least a couple of hours drive away!

Re: FCCUK Rolling Road day - 19/06/2008 13:37

weekend would probably be best for me as well although could make it through the week as well if weekend not available, bbq or something sounds good as well

Well that was a nice wee drive \:D .

Got home around 8:30 after picking up a takeaway, now I could do with catching up on some sleep \:z .

I had a really good day and was very pleased with my results ( Results Pg1 + Pg 2 . And as always it was nice to catch up the regulars and meet some newbies too.

Also a big thank you to Matty for getting this organised with his work. It`s a bit more relaxing to have someone who knows the Coop conducting the tests . I know that you and Ross said my fuelling was very good but I think i`ll resist the temptation to up the power (for now anyway ;\) ).

Here`s some pics and vids:-

Wallace Per4ormance

Tartandude and Doug20VT`s Coops

A load of Coops

The "Yellow Peril" among its big brothers

Kelv`s on the rollers

I took a couple of videos of my Coop on the rollers, nothing too exciting (but i`m glad about that \:D )

More preparation

First Run

I never got a vid of the second run as i was too busy watching what was going on .

Damn you Matty and Ross \:mad\: ! All the road home and all Sunday i`ve been mulling it over in my head whether or not to up the power on my Coop after the RR results \:D .

I keep thinking 250bhp wouldn`t be bad as it`s not too extreme but then I start thinking why spoil my problem free running for extra power I probably don`t need .

I think i`ll sort out my suspension first and see how I feel after that \:P .

Not a sausage \:D

@Ross - As you know the car was very lean on Saturday. I got a HF Gtech 1 from GrahamL and did another run on the rollers tonight with Matty. As I understand it the reading was worse \:\(

We then disconnected the battery for 15 minutes to reset the ECU again. Did another run and it was FAR better... but there seems to be something affecting the boost/torque which in turn is affect the fuelling, or the other way round..

Matty thinks it may be the PRV so Im getting a new one and while Im at it also changing to the uprated fuel pump, wiring mod and also fuel filter..just to be sure..

Once all this is fitted we'll get it stuck on the rollers again and see what it says..

Still only running around 0.9 bar of boost at the moment too so Sev's mini would have me at the moment

I won't be driving the car much in any case as Im away tomorrow for the weekend and the on holiday the week after \:\)
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: FCCUK Rolling Road day - Aberdeen - 10/07/2008 21:58

By "i think we made progress" i think he means Sir Matty chucked out the turbo to sort out this mysterious fueling issue!
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: FCCUK Rolling Road day - Aberdeen - 10/07/2008 22:47

Yes it was better in the end but still not right, however it is making good power for 0.9 bar. \:\)

It seems to be spooling up fine then for some reason it's losing boost, hence the low torque, but then builds it back up. The fueling is much better after the ECU reset however what concerns me is that a standard car is needing the high fueling chip. Voltage at the pump is fine on boost, and I'm not convinced it's the pump anyway as it richens up nicely at the top end. As Craig says a new PRV is on the way as the old one has seen better days.

We'll get there. \:D

Re: FCCUK Rolling Road day - Aberdeen - 14/07/2008 20:28

I dont mind. I made 264 bhp @ 1.1 bar (I'll forget the high boost run as that didn't really go to plan) and I forget what torque, something around 229 lb.ft I think.
Posted By: Tartandude

Re: FCCUK Rolling Road day - Aberdeen - 14/07/2008 20:33

I have no objections, I think I was around 220 but as the car was so lean it doesn't really matter. The next one will be the important one, hopefully \:\)

Ah that's right, it's in your drivers side vent and IIRC it was already turned up fairly high as I did have a wee look. \:P

Have you got a link to your fuel, boost and power graph? If not then I'll just look at the PC tomorrow.

new prv def makes a difference, i fitted one of japs this evening and the car has finally stopped over boosting, now goes straight to just over 1.1 bar and stays there until it starts to tail off
