My rolling road results from jabbasport...

My rolling road results from jabbasport... - 14/06/2008 15:03

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out there's something not quite right with my 20vt \:\(

My car has:
Gtec 1
Drilled airbox
Powerflow Cat-back exhaust

Peak power was 235.3hp and 384nm torque.

Please try not to laugh at the graphs and hope someone can decipher whats wrong.
I'm pretty sure its the ebv causing the boost to flucuate as it does it twice and then settles. The guys down there said its running a little rich but again I have no idea what I'm looking at and hope one of you guys do.

anyways, the graphs..

power curve

air fuel

The figures aren't bad at all considering these cars are 10 years old and you haven't done many mods.

Torque is good and power is about right I'd say. The only issue I can see is the yoyo-ing on one of the runs, probably due to the standard boost control solenoid - a PRV would sort that out.

Fuelling looks perfect (a tiny bit rich at one point but probably not worth looking into, it is far better to be slightly rich than lean!)

Agreed, good going for those mods.
The 30 bhp rise your supposed to get for the gtec isnt always the case.
It is however tried and tested to be proven to be a good chip.

You also need to swap out or sort the ebv.

Mine made 238hp with just a drilled airbox with K+N and Peco catback exhaust so i can see your point.
Then i popped the a Gtec1 in and it made 255hp after fitting the chip, but bear in mind i only got an extra 17hp from the Gtec and that all rolling roads will give slightly different readings anyway.

These results are OK, a FMIC & different turbo would make a noticable power increase...

£30 worth of good quality PBV would sort the inconsistent boost. Another RR session to check the fuelling and the boost and you should be above 240bhp with ease

thanks guys, put me a little at rest \:\)

I already have the prv, just not fitted it yet as wanted to be sure I had enough fuel before I took away the ecu's control over the boost.
(that and I'm not quite sure which pipe goes where...) hmmm..

If its the wrong way it'll boost to about 1.4bar and at either end of the adjustment will do the same.

Set the PRV to 1.2 Bar. Not more \:\)

How much wheel HP did you get?

Nowt wrong with that figure, it's a ten-year old engine at the end of the day, most won't be kicking out 220BHP rampant horses to start with. \:\)

I'd say that was pretty healthy.

How much did the RR session cost Dan?

was 35 quid Tim. Although this was due to me towing onto a 'any-car' rolling road day they were doing. Was a corvette there, as well as a host of jap asap ;-)
They are quite open to sorting rolling road days so maybe worth organising one for local-ish people in the future.
Didn't give a wheel figure, I wasn't too fussed as I just wanted to be sure the fueling was ok with the chip in.

Overall they are very nice guys, very into their VAG motors (well they would be when they are the vag tuning gods!) and very knowledgeable. Some of the cars in their garage are yummy!
