Gutted so many can make Combe but not donny! Would love to be there but really can't, donington is so much more local to me and I can't afford another tank of fuel and the tyre wear!

Looked at the website which shows people doing just am or pm sessions. Is it still £189 for half a day? Also, can you just have a training session for an hour and pay for that without the whole day?
Cheers

Re: Castle Combe Mon 28th October, OPL - 04/10/2013 11:44
Yes, just looked at the entry list and can see morning/afternoon only sessions being booked. They are usually around £110-120. But I can't see that option anywhere, phone them perhaps?
You can't have any tuition without having booked any track time, no.

It's possible Dave, at present only 16 cars have booked so there may be spaces available on the day. Is yours getting fixed?
Best giving bhptrackdays.co.uk a call and ask

Joe is fitting a replacement gearbox for me on the 26th, and if all goes well I will come along in the coupe. If not, I could always track the TT I suppose.
I have just spoken with David from bhp and he has pencilled me in. He said they don't over book the days so should be able to squeeze me in either way
Maybe you should bring that spare gearbox of yours with you

Got the car readied for Combe next Monday.
Both rear wheel bearings, discs and pads renewed.
Broken bonnet release handle replaced.
Front left tyre horrendously delaminated after last day. Binned.
Need a nice dry day to take the slicks (Dunlop ex VW cup tyres) - Optimistic!
Else I'm on the hunt for another pair of semi slicks for the fronts.
Everyone else ready?

Depends how you look at it. They're ex VW Cup semi slick competition tyres, that have now worn all resemblance of tread out, but still have plenty of rubber on them.
So, as they were designed, they weren't originally a slick. But they are now. And damned grippy they are too

Well if you want to believe weather forecasts a week ahead, it's meant to be dry. But the wind could change tomorrow!

Sounds good
Everything's ready on mine. Will be it's first track day after stripping it etc. Think the back end is too high, so hopefully not too oversteery
Brakes are unbelievably powerfull but a bit too easy to lock up. Overall pretty happy. I reckon it's 175-180bhp and around 925kg.

Good to see the familiar faces

Re: Castle Combe Mon 28th October, OPL - 29/10/2013 17:47
It was pretty brutal in the morning, wettest track day I have been on. The afternoon faired better, but never got better than greasy!
Fun day though, and best suited to the lower powered FWD cars where you could still go for it (with the right tyres!).

Glad it went well.
Sounds really tempting.
I'll have to dig out my crash helmet (which is still as new in its box!). Just a bit chicken about completely wrecking my old girl!

Re: Castle Combe Mon 28th October, OPL - 30/10/2013 16:32
Was a very enjoyable day, good to see the usual culprits as ever.
Didn't take any video (wouldn't have seen anything but spray - that's all I saw all day!).
The morning session was very wet, and were it not for Robfow's generosity in lending me a pair of his Goodyear Eagles I'd have struggled on the semi slicks I brought. As it was, I enjoyed my cars usual predictability in wet conditions to be hitting 115-120 up Avon Rise.
In the afternoon, the rain stopped for a few hours, and on went the semi slicks. And with that, came lack of grip on the greasy surface. I spun off at Camp (although not as spectacularly as the other "notorious" green coupe did at the same spot. I went backwards onto the grass at about 75mph, kept away from the wall and span round at the last moment to at least point the right way(showmanship!).
Really need a good set of wet weather track tyres. Trying a combo of road/track only bought less grip, so for all you thinking of running these options, don't!
