Keep the faith. Standard cars sell quicker but once the right buyer comes along it'll be gone in a flash.

Yep - it will take a while to sell. i've been through this myself...the trouble is that most people looking at getting a coupe dont want to pay more than 2K - and those that do are on the forum and have a coupe already.

If you wanted to put it back to standard with second hand parts you would make more money - if you can stomach ripping the car to bits. frown

Sadly true Suba. Jamie, have you tried pistonheads yet, there's always power hungry folk on there who'd be interested I'm sure? If I had the space for another potential vehicle in addition to my current fleet and one or two I've my eye on I'd be biting your arm off!

Re: 1997 R 20VT Scotts Green 340bhp/ 320lbs torque - 28/05/2010 17:56

Yes ive got it on ebay and pistonheads. I would really love some one to buy it who i know would look after it, but if it has to be some not from this forum, then thats what it has to be.

The thing is you buy a nice standard coupe that needs nothing doing to it and it will cost you £2500 may be more. You then have it for a while and get use to the power and start to mod it a little, its like a virus then you spend more and more until you get it to where you want it which is what happened to me. So if you could get a properly modified one running 340bhp with live map for £3695 you are saving thousands.

I bought this standard nearly 6 years ago for just over £5000 no skirts or kit or anything, and it needed the bonnet spraying, and in those 6 years ive spent must be close to £6000 on the body, engine, suspension brakes, up dating parts etc. Now if at the time i could have bought a 340bhp one for £5995 (eqivilant to today's prices) I would have.

Great a moan about the market thread...I'll join in. I have a 20VT and 16V n/a, both completely standard - everyone always reads posts about "I want an original,I want to keep it standard -as it should be", blah blah blah. Well I have TWO for sale at a very reasonable cost. Neither has sold!

One of the cars has been looked at and the person did not like the colour.

Apart from what is mentioned above, absolutely no interest! And I mean NONE! Incredible!

*Sorry to encroach on your thread Jamie*

no worries patch i suppose there is out there the right buyer for every car, its just with mine, there should be alot more wink serious though mine is a wonderful car and who ever buys it will be getting a serious piece of kit, to enjoy either on the road or on the track and this thing is fast, what could you by for £3695 that is quicker than a m3,evo,subaru sti or even the new focus rs which i know are £28000 new well you cant get them any more, well not until the rs 500 comes out.

Hi! I have taken it from Jamie, felt really bad leaving!

Its a great car, although the other night somehow managed to get oil all up the underside of it and over the passenger side and not knowing what did it sick

Thinking there was maybe to much oil in the system and it cam out of the breather filter as the top of it was hanging off. But the oil is from front to back, dripping off the exhaust!

Check your oil cooler + pipes before you even try and turn the engine over again.
