Le paint code

Le paint code - 28/06/2009 14:06

Now i know this has been done millions of times before, and having done a search i have come up with the code 613/A as the le paint code. I am currently at halfords with this code and they have 4 or 5 different variants of this paint under fiat. I did a search under alfa romeo and it came up with only 1 paint, however i got a test pot mixed and it looked way too dark. Please can someone give me anymore info/ the full paint code and manufacturer. Thanks in advance, Matt

Re: Le paint code - 28/06/2009 14:56

I have 613 and isn't the same as the LE titanium. I think 613 is grigio titanio. Its slightly darker.

Re: Le paint code - 28/06/2009 15:26

I have gone for 613/94 grigio titanio met. Its for a light cup so if it is too dark then i will have to do all 4. Cheers sugerbear

Re: Le paint code - 30/07/2009 08:02

Matt, was the 613/94 grigio titanio met the correct colour? I want to have the centre console sprayed in the LE colour, so I need the correct paint code.

Re: Le paint code - 30/07/2009 11:22

It was pretty dam close. I used it on my rear light and it is very slightly darker but this could be because of fading over time. From a distance it looks the same as the other rings.

Re: Le paint code - 30/07/2009 14:39

Hmmmm, wonder what this will look like on the centre console then...
Posted By: Jimbo

Re: Le paint code - 30/07/2009 15:19

It should be 613A ? Halfords should have the paint code book with the colour swatches in it. Look for 613A and then take it outside to the car and check.
Posted By: MattM

Re: Le paint code - 30/07/2009 15:21

Halfords have got about 10 paint codes called 613A all under Fiat and all grigio titano met
Posted By: Jimbo

Re: Le paint code - 30/07/2009 15:30

And do they have the colour book too ? It had all the little colour cards with holes in them so you can put it over the paint and find the correct one.
Posted By: MattM

Re: Le paint code - 30/07/2009 15:30

They didn't have that in my local Halfords. Good tip for anyone else looking though
Posted By: sugerbear

Re: Le paint code - 30/07/2009 15:56

you have two choices. either find a local paint supplier that can do aerosols and ask to borrow their paint match sheets and match it yourself.

Send an item to paints4u.com (petrol cap would be a good place to start) and they will try to match it, i think the service is about £30 which includes one can of spray. for that they also give you a reference number and if the match is good there is no reason why you couldn't order a few more and arrange a group buy to cover the initial cost.

I would have done this myself but I may be moving on from my LE so not much point.

Re: Le paint code - 30/07/2009 16:14

Moving on from an LE ?! Don't you mean downgrading from an LE ?

Re: Le paint code - 30/07/2009 17:21

That is what I think he meant to type.

Re: Le paint code - 30/07/2009 21:42

As soon as its gone I will get myself checked into the betty ford clinic. Once they have got me out of the gimp suit I can go 'cold turkey' for a few months/years.

Re: Le paint code - 31/07/2009 07:58

I checked with my friend for Spies Hecker color base. They have only one option for Fiat 613 - it's called titanio and should be grey )

I will try it next week and post some report )))

Re: Le paint code - 06/08/2009 10:27

Any news on this?

It seems the code is either 613/A or 613/94 grigio titanio met.

Do you have the standox colour code ? Could you take a photo of the label on the can so I could show it to a paint supplier.

The problem I have with the uk suppliers is that when I search on the standox website standox.co.uk I cant find a 551-89 paint code or the ppg colour.

Also PPG colours are only supplied in two pack colours which means unless I am a commercial sprayer I cant get the paint supplied in a can.

I think what most LE want (well me at least) is a can of LE paint in a spray can. I havn't found a supplier that can do that as yet without colour matching the paint.

I think, this is Fiat 551 colour, but I will check in standox..

Seeing as I have money to burn I have ordered a can of 551 beige-shore from paint 4u. I will let everyone know if its a weird naming convention (ie beige in italian means titanium !) or if it really is beige laugh

Fingers crossed this is the actual colour. All exterior titanium parts have been resprayed and are much darker...will have to get them done again.

Re: Le paint code - 02/09/2009 07:27

I have bottom part of the PIU rear bumper painted to Fiat 551 Beige Shave Mica (1998) and colour match is really good.
Posted By: Sedicivalvole

Re: Le paint code - 02/09/2009 08:17

Can't wait to see if it does match laugh
Posted By: sugerbear

Re: Le paint code - 02/09/2009 13:53

I have the paint and "beige shore met" is indeed a silvery titanium colour and NOT a beige colour at all !

Just put a couple of light coats onto a light surround so as soon as its dried (and its stopped raining!) I will do a comparison.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Le paint code - 02/09/2009 14:40

are the titanium ( or beige laugh ) bits lacquered ?
Posted By: sugerbear

Re: Le paint code - 02/09/2009 15:57

oooohhhh.... its very very very close... very very very close. the closest match I have seen so far !!!

So 551 Beige Shore Metallic seems like a very good choice.

I am going to order a few more from the local refinishers.

Once a second coat is on and the lacquer i will take some photos.

Yup, dont forget that when you order your next Ferrari in Italy, just ask for beige !

Re: Le paint code - 02/09/2009 21:57

A big thanks to Mariusz.

Maybe we can now solve the mystery of the LE Wheel paint code. I am going to try 613a against my standard alloys and do a comparison as well.
Posted By: Mariusz

Re: Le paint code - 03/09/2009 09:19

smile

I think, for the LE wheels you have to try 551 too.. smile
Posted By: sugerbear

Re: Le paint code - 05/09/2009 17:24

Put a couple of coats of lacquer on today and the colour 551 is spot on.

Re: Le paint code - 05/09/2009 18:15

Great news guys thumb Is 551 available from FIAT as a spray etc? Or is it a paint factor jobbie? Is that a current colour?

Re: Le paint code - 05/09/2009 22:15

Well done guys, all the effort has paid off!

Not my effort laugh

But someones laugh
Posted By: sugerbear

Re: Le paint code - 06/09/2009 17:33

its available from paint4u or any paint supplier that can make up standard colours. There are a few 551 colours but if you ask for 551 - Shore Beige Metallic then you will get the right one.

I hop someone has written this info down. I would hate for it to be lost if the forum crashed laugh

i've got it written down don't worry!!;)

Re: Le paint code - 06/09/2009 18:51

So for the un paint savvy....

When I get my wheels redone, I can specify the paint to them which will be the correct match. Are they going to be able to powder coat the wheels instead of spraying them?

Or is that a completely stupid question?
Posted By: bockers

Re: Le paint code - 06/09/2009 19:03

No. Powder coatings are a different set of shades. If they spray then it will be ok but is not as hardwearing but does give a better finish. Costs more though frown
Posted By: sugerbear

Re: Le paint code - 06/09/2009 19:52

I have always thought that the wheels where a slightly different shade to the other titanium bits, but I could be wrong. evo number one had a quote from someone in canvey island to paint his wheels and it came to about £250-300.

As for powder coat, a non-standard colour needs to be purchased and again that man evo number one has already enquired and it would require someone to stump up £500 for the batch of powder to do the wheels (no powder coater is going to fork out £500 to do one set). Maybe something for a group buy but would need someone who was friendly with a powder coater to arrange.

In the end Mr Evo used 639 Grigio Lipari on his wheels after he found 613a (grigio titanio) to be too light in colour).

I have all this written down !
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Le paint code - 06/09/2009 20:49

you could refurb them yourself for under £100, did this on my last coupe and the wheels still looked good after three years, will be doing the ones on my new coupe too
Posted By: Sedicivalvole

Re: Le paint code - 07/09/2009 12:59

Thanks John, had a feeling it was going to be that way. Mine have been sprayed last time and while they look absolutely great they only lasted 18 months before a few marks started to appear frown

I would do Dave but don't have the space or the time unfortunately.

I would be in for a Group Buy on the correct colour for a powder coating but I could see it being a logistical nightmare.... Mine were resprayed 613 Grigio Titanio if I remember correctly, though I have it written down as well laugh
So looks like having them sprayed 551 is the way then.

Hmm, just went onto the paints4u site but how on earth do you search for the 551 paint? No where on that site does it give you the option to put the colour code in!!!!!

Re: Le paint code - 15/04/2010 19:34

A tip for anyone painting their wheels to a specific colour - buy more base colour than you think you'll need and all in one batch! I bought 4 cans for some wheels I did for a friend a while back, painted the first 2 OK with cans 1 and 2 but cans 3 and 4 were duds, offering little more than splatters. Ordered two more cans to exactly the same paint code and yes, you guessed it, they were a slightly different shade - not noticable to the untrained eye but very noticeable to mine! Rather than give him 2 wheels in one shade and 2 in another I started again with 6 cans mixed in the same batch so they were all the same. I now have 2 spare unused cans in *that* colour!

Thanks a lot!

Wheels touch-up from this site then: http://www.afterbuy.de/afterbuy/shop/storefront/start.aspx?seite=/afterbuy/shop/storefront/produkt.aspx%3Fshopid%3D62589%26produktid%3D10392048! laugh

Could this be the truth! The final say in a mystery that was thought to be forever hidden to mankind!!??

woohoo

One correction to PiZ though, i think it´s supposted to be 776 for the wheel? I have found no Grigio Medio Metallizzato 77g but a Grigio Medio Metallizzato 776... Am I not correct? confused

And one more point, I think the 227649 is the PPG paint code for FI 551/89.

Yup ! I think you're right. I have made a copy&paste of the document I own....
I have to double check the 776 paint with my colleague who gave me those codes one year ago...or try to find them on the huge Fiat database. But I do think it is a 776 (just a transcription error)....I have never seen a similar code (77g).....

For the VV-689 paint I am pretty sure it is right, because I directly found it on the paint DB....

To understand this correctly, is the VV-689 and the 776(77g) the same thing? Because the wheels only have one colour...

Could be good if you cheched the 227649 as well, is it the wheel or trim color.

Too many codes and I'm getting confused... confused

Hi guys...after much pained research to get LE paint right for rear light cups and interior strip and wing mirrors...here is some definitive info and supplier:
Hi all, just thought I'd post this for info after having a hard time gaining proper touch up paint mixes for various Coupés. Used this eBay seller: fiona_mcgowan123 , to get properly mixed Fiat 656F Grigio Titanio (opaco) (LE inserts, rear cups, wing mirrors etc.) utterly perfect colour and blend and tone, after so many searches and purchases on eBay and halfords among many other who purport to be paint mixing specialists...these guys have totally delivered the right colours for my Vinci grey LE and inserts for the above correct colour and opacity etc...good find for me; I'm not associated in any way with this seller but have had such a hard time getting proper paint mixes for touch up/stone chips thought I should let some good Coupé owning people know these great results from their paint mixes stone chip touch ups...;-)

Re: Le paint code - 01/07/2015 15:05

Matching this colour has been a complete nightmare for me over the past 6 months. I've had a centre console sprayed 4 times with apparently the correct code/s and each time it's not matched the dash strip being either too light or too dark.

Recently I had a wing mirror cup analysed/matched by a paint company and the colour code the computer matched it with was Fiat 551, it's a very close match but still slightly lighter in colour, so what I'm doing for Pondman is having a new set completely resprayed so there's no mismatch inside the cabin, he doesn't know yet smile
