rear quarter panel window removal. - 13/06/2013 06:56
Had a window specialist out with the car last night attempting to remove the rear quarter windows as the car is ready for spray paint.
After having a go he said it cannot be done due to the lack of space around the edges and that he will only damage the outside rubber. I got a quote of 250 each window in case he broke one.
Has anybody else had problems with the rear windows and how did they overcome it?

Your glass guy needs to cut the seal from inside the car with a long blade, a wire cutter will damage the seal so it takes time and patients but it can be done.

I had the same problem when I got my car resprayed, the window guy damaged one of my rear quarter window rubbers so I had to get a replacement from
Joe at FCSS.
I'd let the window guy have a go and if he damages it give FCSS a call as you need the windows out for a top quality finish.

To late!! Tonight was the only time the spray booth was available. You miss that time slot and it could be weeks before its quite again! Took my time and masked it up well.
I will throw up a picture tomorrow

If you have time take the rear seats out and the rear door cards that sort-of makes it easier.

There is specialised tool just for these cases when its "almost" imposible to remove with wire - adjustable power portable induction heater, works just fine if you found one, the only tip is to move the induction head continuously, if not it can burn the paint...
