Young at heart owners

Young at heart owners - 15/11/2019 16:17
As a new owner this year I am curious to know just who in the club is the owner with most years under their belt?
Also youngest owner?
It matters not a jot of course either way, although being at the older end lowers insurance I suppose.
Purchased my coupe In July 2019 at age 68.

I purchased my Coop in the year 2008, I was a young dude of 52 back then.
It cost me four grand at the time & all things considered, that was quite a bargain.

Indeed, and still in love! Gave her a wash yesterday, comes up a treat, especially in the right light.

Bought mine for about £1000 off ebay in October 2004. It was a 16v N/A and wouldn't start, but that was resolved fairly quickly (even Barnacle came over to try and help I seem to remember) after finding out the distributor arm was 180 degrees out. Turbo engine removed from the Tipo and put into the coupe and still have it 15 years later and with a little more power than standard
I was 25 when I bought the car and now 40

I bought 'Snoopy' 15 years ago back in the summer of 2004 at 23 years of age.
Although she was nearly six years old at the time, I like the fact she was first registered within a couple of weeks of me passing my driving test

Striking to me is the age spread of owners and the longevity of ownership, remarkable. But then again having found out for myself just how good the coupe is, perhaps not so remarkable!

Almost 20 years of coupe ownership, with highs and lows. Over those years I've made some very good friends so here's to another 20 years. Now with my eighth coupe and possibly the best one to date.

😁 Very true, my only wish is that I had bought my coupe years ago, oh well just have to drive it more often and make up for lost time!

I bought 'Marvin' in April 2001 when he was under 2 years old and I was 39.
I have a photo of us the day I collected him from Wimbledon Carriage Company.
I also have a photo from earlier this year, the day Marvin clocked up 80,000 miles. I'm now 58, Marvin's worn better than me in 18 years!
Great to see new and seasoned owners of all ages who love our coupes

Bought my 20VT at a sprightly 55 and have never regretted it - 17 years later I think the Coop is in better fettle than me - certainly had more joints replaced recently ! - must be using the wrong lubricant.

Re: Young at heart owners - 23/11/2019 17:09
I got mine in 2000 at the age of 32 - sold it for a few years and bought it back in 2007.
It last ran on the road in 2015 but I have hopes of MOTing it soon and coming to a few meets.

Re: Young at heart owners - 24/11/2019 03:05
I bought my 20VT in 2012 for a pittance (£1300) when I was approaching 60. The lacquer's now gone on the roof, the dash and centre console have gone all sticky, and he's suffered some dings and scrapes, but will be getting "seen to" by Joe sometime in the New Year. Perhaps being transformed into the VT6 guise of my spares car. The engine's still strong, as evidenced during a trip to and around the NuerburgRing, plus cruising back at an indicated 130mph, with some in hand. Can't wait for him to be back on the road!

Re: Young at heart owners - 24/11/2019 10:08
Off course for a moment, when I purchased my Coop four grand really was a bargain as it was in really good condition, the chap took off a few quid for crap cheap front tyres, that was all I could see.
The lack of Coop friendly garages up here & learning about the car as I went on, the Coop did suffer a bit over the years.

Bought mine brand new (as a company car?!) in 2000 aged 44. It’s no longer my company car but I still have it and love it dearly- needs another campaign of large money spending soon though!

Bought mine brand new (also as a "company" car) in 1997 aged 35. It’s no longer my company car either but I still have it - sort of ...
It is in the process of having all the rust cut out and resprayed - mainly done and then will basically get new suspension and belts done. So yes, a very large amount of money being spent on it as these things are expensive out here.
It has become my son's 21st birthday present with the understanding that he has to cherish it from now on
Why do I think this is not going to end well ...

Bought my 20V Turbo in Dec and its less than half my age - soft spot for the younger babes! Would have had it much earlier if I had any spare cash but was busy paying off the mortgage!

Aaah, 'young at heart', 'old fart', it's an easy mistake to make.
