Re: Ireland meet. - 09/10/2009 10:57

well my cam phase sensor is on the fritz, so won't be bringin the coop anywhere until I figure out what I'm gonna do about it. Had been planning to go to UK to get belts done but can't even get car started now and can't afford to bring it to Fiat main dealer (refuse to pay €95/hr) . But if ye get one going I will come along in the Alfa anyway, preferably in november, October is fairly busy for me.

Wasn't there talk of Carlingford before??

Besides Daithi, if you ever want to see your widget again.... ooo

By the way, I ordered two pairs of clear side repeaters (because I am a nonce) so first to PM me gets them.

Great to be back in the Coupe after a week of van driving in England

Re: Ireland meet. - 26/10/2009 04:37

Depending on the date I would love to come along to this. Weekends in November are good for me but best would be after the 16th as I will no longer have a job at that stage frown

@albertone: I would be heading from Clane/Celbridge

Re: Ireland meet. - 31/10/2009 12:43

Right then, where exactly are we meeting , and at what time? I don't know the area so maybe one of you guys can name the spot.

How about 1pm for the time? that should give most people enough time to get there.

Pity you can't make it Darmtb!
Posted By: CollieD

Re: Ireland meet. - 31/10/2009 16:27

Well,

yeah its a pity you cant make it Darmtb as you are usually at them all.

I think I should have a quick word with Daithi and we shall come up with a good route to drive. We could meet at a good location in Dundalk and then drive from there.

I will pm Daithi to see what he thinks.

Re: Ireland meet. - 02/11/2009 12:59

Thanks Daithi,

I have replied.

Right Guys. This could be the makings of a good day out and should be well worth the visit. tongue

We can meet up in Dundalk at the Crown Plaza Hotel which is central for most people and head on from there. There will be a nice mix of roads from twisty hill climbs with great views to wide open main roads.

I suggest around 1pm on the 22nd November.

Come on lads put your names down!!! wink

Well, I would imagine that Celbridge is where I will end up. Heading to an old friends suprise 30th on the Saturday so if I'm getting a late bus from town I can only really get as far as Celbridge unless I want to shell out for a taxi (which I don't!)

Re: Ireland meet. - 18/11/2009 02:22

Looks handy enogh to get to
Head up the m1 and turn off for the n1.
Should drive right by it
an hour should get us there so 12 would be time enough id reckon

Re: Ireland meet. - 18/11/2009 10:34

Hi Guys,

Sorry have beem away from the forum for a few days.

Hotel is very handy as it is sixteen storeys high and is beside the main junction from the M1 with dundalk at the "Xerox Junction". Also large wind turbine close by. Beside DKIT Campus also.

Those coming from Dublin direction just come off the M1 and head straight for Dundalk. The first major junciton with traffic lights and you will see the hotel straigt ahead of you in the skyline. Cant miss it.

Those of you from the Belfast direction come off the motorway at the Ballymascanlon roundabout and head for Dundalk. Keep going straigt on the inner relief road. You will pass two sets of traffic lights and two roundabouts and then you will apprach the hotel being on your right hand side. Take the turn right at the next set of lights. (note I am not including the traffic lights on the roundabout's)

I hope this makes some sense. If your looking on google maps the hotel is right adjacent to the Institute of technology.

Look forward to seeing you all,

Re: Ireland meet. - 19/11/2009 01:09

Eek, ran into a bit of an issue with my coupe. End of the (standard) exhaust has fallen off. Won't be too much of an issue on short runs but dunno if I want to risk a long one before I can replace it (with some blueflame goodness!). Might have to head with you albertone if thats okay? I don't want to end up melting my entire bumper (it's a little melted already!)
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Ireland meet. - 19/11/2009 01:37

Thats a pity, but a good excuse at the same time for a blue flame.

No problem at all

Re: Ireland meet. - 20/11/2009 12:41

@ Albertone, great news you have the Belts fitted and the Rims on 'er now.
Looking forward to seeing how she looks in the flesh.

@ Gobby, the very same happened with my exhaust a while back, thing is I haven't got around to getting a new rear section exhaust. But I also need a new downpipe too... wonders never cease.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

lookin forward to this on Sunday. We might have to keep to high ground to avoid all the water! grr

Anyhow, we will make the most of it.

Should be a good day and hopefully will get a good few pics.

Re: Ireland meet. - 20/11/2009 15:46

I'll second that. Looking forward to meeting you all. Will be great to find out of Coupe friendly garages in the Republic! Not looking forward to having to go to the UK for any work etc.

Will be great to put faces to names too smile
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Ireland meet. - 20/11/2009 16:12

I'll be there but unfortunately my coupe won't cry

I'll come along anyway in the Alfa.

Daithi, I suppose you'll be wanting yer widget back! I completely forgot that I had it so apologies for not contacting you sooner to arrange its safe return!

@ Gobby - pity I can't bring my coupe as I have the blueflame catback fitted so you could have seen / heard it before making any decisions.

You should bring your coupe anyway, a little melted bumper never hurt anybody!!! I trimmed mine because it melted when I got the exhaust fitted and you can't even notice!!

Re: Ireland meet. - 22/11/2009 20:45

Great meet. Only back now. Journey back was a little bit cat. Rain all the way and loads of traffic. Great to meet you all. Some good banter, good advise and some epic roads laugh

Can't wait for the next meet. Hopefully it will be a little dryer wink

Re: Ireland meet. - 23/11/2009 08:51

Well Gobby,

It was a great day apart from the weather but we did not let that spoil it. If the weather had of been dry that would of been a much nicer drive.

However, great to see all those who showed, especially all the lads that had to travel long distances. I have a few photos (not great with the rain). I will try and get these up soon.

Karl, what time did you get back at. The roads were brutal. It was not a good night for driving.

Good to see you all and I hope we meet again soon,

Regards

Re: Ireland meet. - 23/11/2009 08:54

A great meet!
Really worth the trip down to meet you all, first time I've been a part of a Coupe Convoy and on those wonderful driving roads too, shame about the weather though.
Never a greater invention than RainX for the windscreen!

Looking forward to the next meeting and track days.
@ Albertone - very jealous of the way your VIS sounds... a new exhaust is defo going on Santa's letter I think.
@ Mastiff, thanks for the clear repeaters!

Re: Ireland meet. - 23/11/2009 10:03

Good day out despite the weather and good banter. Great to see old acquaintances again, and to meet some new people too!

@ Karl, your welcome mate thumb

For next year maybe some more meets/events

1. Track Day
2. Go-karting
3. maybe a wee roadtrip in convoy to Bristol???? rolleyes

Re: Ireland meet. - 23/11/2009 13:00

Alright Boyos!

Great to meet up alright. Pity about the weather. That mountain road is epic in the dry and there is usually never any traffic on it.

We'll have to start organising the New Year meet now tongue

I think I have a few pics taken from yesterday of us getting pi$$ed on! I'll try an dpost them up when I finally get home to my own pc.

See y'all again soon!

Oh and yes, a convoy to Bristol sounds great for 2010 cool

Re: Ireland meet. - 23/11/2009 19:56

Thanks Karl
Really enjoyed the day despite the weather.
Sometime around the new year and karting sounds good to me.

Re: Ireland meet. - 24/11/2009 08:58

I'd certainly be on for a Road Trip!!

I've driven past Bristol that many times over the summer with work, albeit in a Transit van, I could probably drive it in my sleep, perhaps I already have...

Driving through Wales is immense, the mountain roads from Holyhead through Bangor and right down are fantastic!!

I'm really on for karting too, roll on 2010!

Re: Ireland meet. - 25/11/2009 15:41

That Alfa looks stunning. Even with the missing rear badge, cracked tail light, variety of dints and scratches and an odd offside front alloy it puts those shabby coupes to shame. Just as well I moved it for the latter photos so that the coupes would look ok on their own! Sure even in Collies first photo you can see the Alfa is right on your tails trying to get past laugh
