I have my LE in the For Sale section but I appreciate that the protocol is not to comment on pricing there. I open to comment here though, if that is OK? Here's the ad - My LE Do you think £4750 is too optimistic in the current market? Can anyone give an indication of what similar LEs have gone for recently? Any comments (here!) would be welcome.

You're looking nearly twice what I'd pay for one in todays market.

Thanks for the responses, and I'm sanguine about the state of the market and what I'm asking.
To be honest, I don't need to sell it, and every time I get in it and see how well it looks, and remember how well it has been maintained it steels my resolve not to give it away.
I would let it go for less than the asking, but as the cash isn't the issue I'm seriously thinking about putting it into storage for a while while I ponder...

Ok... Let's be sensible here. If this was a standard LE in a good colour (I'm sorry but your car is not a good colour) it might be worth err....something. The trouble is that your car is way off standard( your idea of lightly modded is frankly wrong)The engine and interior have been substantially modded and you haven't completed the refurb of the bodywork.
I'm not a fan of the LE. I hate the bodykit, titanium bits and the garish leather interior. I am not the only one. Just because it's an LE, people go stupid. I would think your car is worth around £3000 as it is and £4000 if you put it back to standard. All this is assuming that it is a really mint example requiring no work.

Black is the colour to choose if you want to lose all the subtleties of a car's shape. Since the coupe is uniquely blessed in this department, it's a silly thing to do.

I reckon 4k in the current market. if it was Vinci grey you could easily get £6,000,000 for it. But its not so its worth 4k ish. Depends if you can find someone (or two) keen enough. Luckily I have a Vinci Grey so my financial future is secure.

it looks good in black. i know what he means about the lines but it still looks good in black, you have to look harder to see the lines but Im sure it depends on the persons taste, alot more subtle than say sprint blue or yellow. no need to get shirty about what colour the guys coupe is. Id give you 3 grand today for it and id swap the red and black interior for std black leather or plus interior and i would be happy.

The LE is a specialist car and will command more money in the future than the standard and the plus. Red and Black LE's look stunning and the colour coding compliments these well. If you can afford to keep then just leave it up for sale it will sell eventually, it took me a while to sell mine and is now with a owner who appreciates what the car is and its potential. Many cried and moaned about it, fcuked me around but it is in the hands of someone who appreciates the car and its potential and even featured on pistonheads pic of the week . See here for a reminder of how good these can look

Slapped on a body kit changed the leather, painted the calipers red ,changed the colour of the wheels and dash, added a strut brace(the good bit) and topped it off with a numbered plaque....Wow wow wow. Then just waited for the suckers who thought they were getting something special!!!! It was just to boast sales. Wheres the factory upgraded suspension, engine and brakes that would have made it really special ? I'm not saying you shouldn't be proud of your LE if you like the car but don't fool yourself into thinking that a numbered plaque means anything to a real car enthusiast or adds value. And to add insult to injury Fiat then produce the plus which gives you all the good bits PLUS some real limited edition wheels.Oh the irony !! Without doubt the worst looking coupe to leave the factory and a real case of the emporor new clothes

Without doubt the worst looking coupe to leave the factory and a real case of the emporor new clothes Rubbish? It was specifically designed as a limited edition car unlike vauxhall who have 50 limited editions of the same car and continue it through the range its hardly a comparison is it. Usually the people who moan about the LE genuinely don't like the model but appreciate the fact it is a proper limited edition which will always command more money than a standard model everytime. At the time of production the suspension, engine and brakes were good enough and given engineering back then is no where as near as good as it is now the coop still holds its own statistically. The LE was around 27k new even in today's money that is expensive and to own a LE was seen to be a cut above the rest. Oh plus you got a lovely limited edition numbered bomber jacket

I'm not keen on the LE either. When people show me the inside and it has red bits all over the place, it reminds me of fisher price if I'm honest. Why not just buy a £1000 coupe and spend £3000 as that would be enough to transform a coupe insted of a £4000 LE? Very overrated coupe's in my view but by all means if you can get £4000 for it then all credit to you. P.S the black does look nice

Without doubt the worst looking coupe to leave the factory and a real case of the emperor new clothes You quite clearly dislike the LE. I'm sure the guy asking for advice really needs to hear that.

Dear skint, Let me try to explain my view to you, one more time, in a different way . True value is added by improvement, not change for change sake. In the way that a 6 speed coupe may be more valuable than a five speed. The LE might be a nice car to own if you like it,but the idea that it is more valuable, because of mostly cosmetic changes is (I believe) untrue. In the future any extra value will be commanded by coupes with exceptional condition, history, standard specification and low milage. I for one do not own a coupe for its possable future value but for its enjoyment now. This I would think is the same for most owners. Some of whom like to modify their cars, some like them standard, some like the 16v and some like the 20v. The author of this thread choose to invited comments on his valuation and I submited my honest opinion. Which is ; I think he,and others, have over-estimated the extra value an LE spec can command. Now I'll get my Ltd edition numbered bomber jacket coat

Unfortunately the interior of the LE detracts from it.
It could be argued that it's a matter of taste...Unfortunately for the LE it's a matter of bad taste.
The six speed and strut brace are the only two things that add any real value in todays market IMO, and even then a strut brace is a simple and relatively cheap addition. I cant see any of those limited colours swaying anyone.
Now the Plus on the other hand I do think is a different kettle of fish. Yet still not worth the ££££'s extra some seem to think, at least not for many years to come yet.

The six speed and strut brace are the only two things that add any real value in todays market IMO For me the biggest value would be the seats, I personally think the recaro's are so much better than the standard seats. And i like the bodykit, the 6 speed box and the other little bits (i think the titanium coloured bits work very well on the black LE's). The interior is not my favourite, but it looks ok with the colours Fiat chose for the LE and it does look very Italian!

Repoman wanted to know if his valuation was correct, that's all. Why are people stating LE's are crap blah blah when no-one asked for your opinions on them?
"no-one asked for your opinions on them"......What ? "Why are people stating LE's are crap blah blah".....you must let me know where you read that, as the point is ;are LE's worthy of EXTRA value. No-one said it was a lesser car! Take a look at sugerbears or jungens posts above for an idea of how to post valid, intellegent, alternative opinion for discussion. Then maybe look-up the word 'forum' in your dictionary. Sorry if this sounds harsh. I do love a good debate but thats just nonsense

I thought I would see no reason to post but it seems to me that you are contradicting yourself. The LE does have upgrades in the seating etc which imo is a massive improvement. And I find this is a rare thing to do. But I have to say you're point regarding the LE being less valuable is incorrect. The LE has always cost more. it cost more to buy and costs more to buy now. It is conceivably possible that when the cars reach a certain age it will cost more than a Plus to buy as well. Whether this makes it a better/superior car is going to always be in the eye of the beholder. I would say it is likely that the consensus would be that it is. As for the OP. I would return the car to original spec and sell the up-rated parts unless you can find someone that is after a modded LE.

It's not a superior car! It had a few changes, the brakes and strut brace being the only performance ones I can think of, but it is Limited Edition and will therefore command a moderately higher price because of this. Simple really, it's the same with all older collectable cars, go to a car show, you'll notice this!
Doesn't matter anyway, he can ask what he wants for it, he will get what someone is prepared to pay for it in the end. I've seen very ordinary coops going for decent money recently, good well looked after coops regardless of model are going slowly up in value from my observations.
Good luck with the sale, I hope you get a good price for it and don't let this lot put it down, it's a nice looking car, should sell ok. I'd get it listed in Auto Italia as well, you get a broader Italian car loving audience and a lot more people who may be looking for a well cared for example like yours.

The LE is a lifestyle choice and I know that there isn't a place I would rather rather be when I put an orange into my mouth and plastic bag over my head while my partner slowly tightens the noose round my neck whilst she is engaged in fellatio.

Gareth I'm not putting this car down it's a nice car and afterall it is a FIAT Coupe. I hope he gets what he wants but my point is about someone buying a 20vt with £4k to play with. You could buy a cheap 20vt, buy the LE parts needed and still end up with change if you used your head correctly. If I had £3k with a 20vt you can bet I'll get my hands dirty, replace items needed and buy upgrades and you have a good example of the same car. It is a major bonus though that LE's hold more money due to 'limited' ammounts. Your best bet is getting what you can to the target audience who appreciate the 'limited' market.

Crikey, I make a fairly unassuming post and this is what happens Spee - thanks for your empathy! To be honest I'm not really sure how to put it back to standard, but I'm sure some will be along to advise. I wasn't really interested in the mods when I bought it which is why I haven't really made a deal of that. Is the consensus that it would be easier to sell in standard spec/ (as opposed to more valuable?) I am thinking of dropping the price as I think £4750 is probably too ambitious, regardless of what the car is "worth" I still haven't found the right Alfa yet, but in the interim I've picked up an urge to have a Panda 100HP. Jeez....save me from my temptations.....

After reading all that i forgot what the original post was about. So after i re-read the first post i wondered, how slating a Le is answering the original, what is it worth question? I would personally keep hold of it. Black Le's are hard to come by, and will be always top of the price grid along with the vinci's and chrono's

Good luck with the sale, I hope you get a good price for it and don't let this lot put it down, it's a nice looking car, should sell ok.
Ah, you could, but it won't be an LE, just a look-a-like! G

For a sale the coop has always been a hard sell they are a specialist market.

You did not have point other than ripping into a car and comparing it to a vauxhall.
