Had my car mapping finished at PT, the clutch started slipping when Rob mapped it, so this was to finish it off.

Was run at 1.4 bar and the environmental temperature was a warm 27C.

Dyno graph

Result as expected but torque a little down. Still cool

Any comments from the experts on here ?

what spec is the exhaust? Do you run the turbo as 5 stud straight to the downpipe?

WBHP is a load of nonsense dont go by them figures. i have two different single RR print outs both on dasktec dynos (different places) both giving 338bhp and roughly around same sort of torque. and there is (cant remeber exactly without getting paperwork out) 50wbhp difference yet both engine power are exact same 338 torque roughly around same area .

In response to questions above.

- I have the standard downpipe with a v-band adapter

- Exhaust is just 3" from cat back

- I was told the A/F ratio was 11.5 (where Rog said in needed to be), PT don't do graphs of A/F ratio as they say it just causes lots of un-warrented concern and discussion. Question of "your car in their hands" trust, hey certainly seem to be a thriving and competent operation

- To be honest I was not putting any stock in the WBHP

yes i do but as i could say hypocritically that the figures of a print out do not lie as in one sheet says wbhp 248.7bhp at engine bhp 338.6

then the other dyno print out says wbhp 294.7 at engine bhp 338.5 (0.1 difference from 338.6) from other print out

both torque figures are 281.4 & 290.9 so in all not to far away but lower one turbo coming in later as gt30 so understandable.

both maximum power are hit withing 100rpm of eachother also. one at 6906rpm (higher wbhp one) and other at 6815rpm so 91rpm difference.

so okay the wbhp is the so called "correct figures to go by" but they never add up clearly as my detailed explanation shows wink

exactly same power same range of torque give or take 10 lbs but 46wbhp difference confused now i know you got all the temps etc to take into consideration about rolling roads making there calculation to give you the WBHP but surely no matter what the difference in temps were on the different days of the runs. they both produced same Fly bhp so the calculations should be within say being generous 15bhp of eachother?

Just to add i lied about them both being Dasktec i got mixed up with other dyno sheet. one is dasktec other is Maha. but this still doesnt give the calculated 46wbhp difference at same 338.5/6 BHP

hmmm but to be honest i think if it is there at consistant 11.5 AFR why not print it out to show customer as its biggest peice of mind ever. FC Performance (flea) makes a Point of showing his customers there fueling traces.
- To be honest I was not putting any stock in the WBHP . I wouldnt either wink

I tend to agree, I am sure Flea is more forthcoming on this level of detail. I did ask but Claudio gave lots of reasons why they didn't give out this kind of information. To be honest I was reassured and happy to trust his expertise.

Was it claudio that mapped your car? and if you dont mind me asking how much did it cost to get it done at PT? (if willing to share with me via pm may be best) smile

Tbh as long as the car is fueling ok and its feels good to you on the road then all is good id say. How did they map it? did you already have unichip installed?

Claudio is the boss, he did not map it himself but did sign it off. I forget the name of the mapper, but very experienced. I originally paid about £500 when Rob did it with my slipping clutch. For this "finsihing" off I paid by the hour, but actually although it took 3-4 hours, claudio only charged me for two smile (came in at abot £230 in VAT).

I don't have a unichip, it is a live map using the original chip I think.

Mark - the standard downpipe will be a big restriction at the top end. If you went for a full 3inch turbo back you'd get an easy 20bhp increase.

If PT have stopped providing fuelling traces then I will not be going back to them for mapping of any sort. It is your right to know how they have mapped your car - end of story. I had a lot of time for Rob when he was there, but Claudio (owner) I was always wary of.

They don't give a fuelling trace because it's not linked to the dyno and they can't print it off, silly really.

the GT28RS drives nicer with a v band adapter fitted. Opening to a 5 stud flange loses a fair chunk of midrange.

But yes, it would gain top end power, as that is where the RS is in its prime, but for road use i prefer the v band setup.

sure - but a 3 inch downpipe really helps the GT-series turbos get very good power at low boost. smile

Yes, it has cost a lot of money over the years. Don't forget when I originally went to PT, Flea was not doing his stuff and I have been very happy indeed with what Rob did to my car, despite the clutch slip. He never mapped beyond 1.2 bar for obvious reasons.

This visit at extra cost was to get the 1.4 bar setting done safely to liberate the full potential of the turbo according to my set up. I think they went over it very thoroughly given the time it took them and it was 2 years since the last visit so important for them to check things before going for 1.4 max.

I appreciate that a race cat and bigger down pipe will free more power, but I am now satisfied with what I have got. I would use PT again as they are local and I do believe they know their stuff.

That's an interesting result. Very similar set up to mine but I've managed a few more horses but 25lbs torque with less boost and the only thing on mine that really stands out (apart from a new Helix clutch on mine) is the full BlueFlame exhaust. Are you running 97ron fuel still?

http://s50.photobucket.com/albums/f343/007Chris/?action=view&current=img001.jpg

Just looking at it my ET is lower than yours too.

I am running the Esso higer RON fuel, can't remember what it is. My engine has done 130,000 miles and I have relatively low compression even across cylinders (ca. 130).

The most noticable thing is how much earlier your torque is delivered.

Since the run I have put the back box on which will improve spool up, not sure if it would affect things much though.

It's the downpipe that will really make the difference.

Suba> That was the 2.75" DP, is that what makes it spool up quicker/the torque line more vertical?

Here's my PT day. But in short it was mapped at 1.38 bar.

Yep - the bigger downpipe is pretty essential if you want to get the most out of a GT series turbo IMO.
