Well a good and not so good day today on the dyno (as more work needed), I ran the Dink high fueling evo 3 chip as I knew I would need all the fuel I could get, basically max duty cycle at WOT.

Car specs
SIP
Turbo T04e 50trim on .48A/r stage 2 turbine
C&B road min cams (similar to tipo n/a profile)
tubular manifold
full 3" exhaust off the turbo
External wastegate
FMIC with 2.5" plumbing
3 bar FPR
Sard 265lph pump
OE 384cc injectors

Temp here is about 18c, dyno was a dyno dynamics dyno, in shootout mode 4 cylinder, the operator is good and well priced, he said to add 20% for flywheel (transmission loss). however I ran out of fuel before I could really get into it.

I ran 3 power runs (had planned on 4) at 10psi, 15psi, 19psi, and a planned at 22psi which didn't take place

All runs were in 4th gear

Basically I ran out of injector flow at 5200rpm and 19psi. I had hoped for a 22psi run but it never happened.

But I think the basic setup has cracked it, the power is there to be made if I had the fuel so some 630cc injectors are the next swap on the list with the manifold to a grale one

and here are the graphs

power and torque

fuel and boost

So for fueling safety I will be running at 15psi till I can get more in

The odd thing is the chip I am running is pretty much max duty cycle on the injectors yet I still ran out of fuel at around 250 fly allowing for the transmission loss - perhaps they are a bit worn out or blocked

Anyway need bigger injectors by the looks but the car certianly fells stronger mid range than the old turbo (mitsi 16G). this is a dual roller type dyno so losses can be high apparently?

something is wrong..

your injectors should be good for over 300hp easy.
with 3bar fuel pressure you should be ok for around 280-290 hp, with good chip.

Injectors will struggle to get to 300 bhp as they are standard, to get to that they'd be well over the recomended duty cycle!!
Nothing is wrong... 209 is a whp figure and it was on a dual roller rolling road, like power stations and we all know tranmission losses there are quite substantial!!
i made 177 ish Whp there yet my fly power was 265??

nick

368bhp @ 1.5 bar

I made 325hp 3.4bar pressure
and one coupe owner 342hp 3.4bar pressure

standard injectors...

300 is not a problem, if everything is ok.
above that fuel pressure, standard rubber rings starts to fall down ( leak )

I know the " duty cycle " ...
actually, when looking some new injectors to my car, just happened to test those standard injectors, are they good
for those standard figures .. guess what laugh
we all are running too small injectors at 200hp cars wink

Saint - could be worth getting your injectors professionally cleaned?

The dyno is set slightly wrong it should be "SHOOT_4F" not "SHOOT_4" tell your operator this next time you go wink

Cheers all, The car certainly feels good

samsite, thats a WHP figure not fly, can add 20% more, so over 250bhp, but yes alot of work

TurboJ will that change make any difference to power output readings?

The chip is good, best I have ever run for sure powerwise and I know it is putting as much fuel in as the injectors can handle so either this dyno reads low, the transmission loss figures are high for this dyno, it is dual roller if that makes any diff - I have run there before and made only 175bhp ATW (like nickd 177bhp) before I swapped turbos and that should have been OE turbo maxed out pretty much, had SIP, FMIC, 3" exhaust etc

I see the graph shows circa 270ft/lbs of torque, is this right or will those figures depend on gear used? it was 4th by the way

Thanks

The "SHOOT_4" is for N/A engines.
The "SHOOT_4F" is for forced induction.

I don't know what power difference it will make but to have it in the right mode is a good start.

4th gear is correct as it is the closest gear to 1:1
5th gear would be in overdrive.

So would that make the 270ft/lbs on graph right (ish) in which case a torque and BHP are the same at 5250rpm I would have been making 270bhp, which would sound about right for running out of injector capacity?

From what I can make out your run at 19psi (light blue) made
209HP @ 5100rpm & 260ft/lb @ 3800rpm-4500rpm both at the wheels.

The BHP & ft/lb will not cross at 5252rpm unless you plot them on the same scale.

Looking at your AFR trace you need to sort the fuelling out ASAP as 12.3:1 to redline is asking for trouble.

For the sake of comparison this is my last RR on this dyno before I put on the tubular manifold and new turbo, turbo at this stage was a Mitsi "big" 16G

Result was 177bhp ATW and 230Ft/lbs
