Gutted, I live 2 mins walk from Abbey Fields and the 8th is about one of the only weekends in the year that I am away. Going to the Ice Hockey playoffs in nottingham.
Cant we have it the week after as the one at Starcity last year was great.

Ok how about this -

From Abbey Fields, head out of Kenilworth towards Leamington Spa on the A452.

2 choices here to get through Leamington –

1 – Go through the centre of Leamington – Straight down ‘The Parade’ past all the Saturday shoppers

2 – Skirt around the town centre.

Either way, there’s a good chance we’ll end up in a number of smaller groups.

Leave Leamington on the A425 heading towards Radford Semele.
At the roundabout with the Fosse, re-group, go right and drive drive drive.

There may be a possibility of some photos at Chesterton Windmill (not sure about parking).

Carry on down the Fosse to Halford. Nice looking pub here for lunch Halford Bridge Inn

After lunch carry on a little further down the Fosse to the junction with the A3400.
Get on the A3400 and head towards Stratford.

We can stop in Startford at a carpark opposite the theatre for a toilet break and an ice cream (nice big carpark – its pay and display) more photos.

After that its back on the road and head back towards Warwick/M40/A46 either using the A439 or the B4086/A429.
I think this route offers more than the original one posted.

i think this is good, BUT ( ) if the weather is nice how about adding a 1 or 1 1/2hr loop. leave leam along radford road, through offchurch onto the fosse way. turn third left off 4455 heading towards harbury then bishops itchiongton, knightcote and fenny compton onto burton/avon dasset hills. parking not free but nice up there on a hot day. then off to avon dasset, over the m40 and off up the 4086 back onto the fosse. then off to lunch where you suggested. only an idea for a nice day really as the lanes are a pig in rain and it gets blinking blowey up hills

Werever we go - just make sure we have a few maps printed for those without sat nav etc....

From Abbey Fields, head out of Kenilworth towards Leamington Spa on the A452.

At the Island with the A46 take 3rd exit to join the A46 heading towards Stratford. Take the next exit and take the A429 towards Warwick.
The Saxon Mill pub is on the left hand side – LUNCH.

Turn left out of the pub and at the roundabout go straight on. At the traffic lights (junction with A452 turn left and continue into Leamington. Go straight over at the roundabout and we are now on Lillington Avenue. At the traffic lights turn right onto the B4087. Continue going ahead until you reach a T-junction. Go right here (may now be a mini roundabout) and in 20 yards or so turn left onto the Parade. There are about 2 or 3 sets of traffic lights down here so this is where we will probably get split up.

Keep going and go across the river until the junction with the A425. Turn left onto the A425 and head for Radford Semele.

Leave Leamington on the A425 going through Radford Semele.

At the roundabout with the Fosse (B4455), turn right onto the Fosse (B4455) and head down to Moreton in Marsh

Before we get to Moreton there may be a possibility of some photos at Chesterton Windmill (not sure about parking).

Just before Halford we get to a roundabout and the road changes into the A429 carry on towards Moreton.

Arriving in Moreton at the mini roundabout go right onto the A44 and head towards Bourton on the Hill. On the left is the Wellington Bomber Museum (well worth a visit if ever you are down this way again).

Go through Bourton on the Hill and carry on and go down Fish Hill. (Good brake test here)

At the bottom of the hill proceed to the Island and go right onto the B4632 towards
Willersey and towards Weston Subedge following signs towards Mickleton. Continue towards Clifford Chambers until reaching Stratford.

Just before Stratford at the junction with the A3400 go left towards the town. Straight on at 1st Island and at the 2nd Island (Petrol Station on the right) go left and head towards the Town Centre.

Before you get to the River Bridge turn left into the car park (It is signposted and will also be directing you to the Butterfly Farm). At the Y junction in the car park go right. The bandstand/river will be on your right and the cricket pitch on your left.
Continue to the far far end of the car park where there are toilets and a play area.

After that its back to the A3400, turn left and head towards Warwick on the A439.
Across the river and get into the right hand lane over the pedestrian lights. Once around the corner keep forward towards Warwick. Should be signposted A46/M40 Warwick/Coventry.

At the roundabout with the A46 go right and arrive at the M40 island.

From here its home!!!!

The round trip (Kenilworth) is approximately 70 miles.

I'll be bringing some copies of the route with me. We'll need a couple of volunteers who know their way through Kenilworth/Warwick/Leamington to act as guides for those who are new to the area. Straws will be drawn tomorrow.
