Just wanted to bump this up, and see how many might be interested in going this year? I'm tempted to go down the night before and stay if there are any others up for it?

I've been in contact, and they are happy to put some space aside if we give them an idea on numbers. So, who's coming then????

Well Im coming

There was quite a large turnout of coops last year but I only drove down with 2 others from Aberdeen (Si_Vinci and FastEdd). There may have been others from Aberdeen that joined later in the day but I can't be sure.

Maybe leave room for 20 or so cars?

I'll be the 1st to suggest a meeting spot for the drive down, Makro Car Park 8.30am on the Sunday (Im not shunning your idea of staying there the night before Che just think I may have other plans on the Saturday )
And Yes I am on late, but its earlier for me currently

Well I think we have the following as definates,

Matty
h2ypr
Paul_H
Tartandude
Mattb (unless off the North East Coast somewhere)
Me

But I suspect there will be a fair few who aren't on the forum but will turn up on the day. If anyone else is up for a night out in St. Andrews, I'm going to stay the night before

Anyone else?

I hope to be there but won't make it until around 2ish. Car is booked in to the paint shop on the 27th, someone scratched the side in a car park. I'll try and change the booking to the 29th.

I`ll probably come a run up again. I hope the ground is a wee bit drier than last year .

Oh and i better watch out for the mobile speed camera that was in attendance last year too,the bugger nearly got me on the road back down home .

Well, in an update from me, my date for heading off has slipped to the 27th, so just need it to move another little bit, and then i should manage this.

Or i might be running about in a panic trying to get things finished before i go.

They have set aside an area for the Coop's, hence trying to keep an eye on the numbers

So' you'll be able to drive in, if I remember there is a seperate entrance for the cars joining the meet,

As you approach the Forth Bridge from Edinburgh there's a slip road off it (about 300 yds short of the tolls).
Go up there and turn left. The McDs is behind the Holiday Inn place. It's along the road towards Grangemouth and Bo'ness.

Can you read a map?

Ok.
I presume you'll be doing M8, under the roundabout at Newbridge where the speed cameras are and then off the slip half a mile later (that lovely sliproad that doubles back on itself ). Then after a short stretch of dual carriageway you come to a roundabout where you turn right for Kirkliston and left for the Bridge. Turn left there (obvious eh) and drive along the main road. After a mile and a half you come to a roundabout. Left takes you into a retail park with a big Tesco, right into Dalmeny/South Queensferry and straight ahead to the roundabout over the M90 just above the tolls. At this point you would normally turn right at the r'bout, go down the sliproad and straight into the tollbooths but to get to Maccy Ds you go straight across the roundabout and head for Bo'ness and Grangemouth (maybe the A905). Go along this road for about 300 yds then turn right into the petrol station/Travelodge/MaccyDs.

Does this make sense?

The postcode for the Travelodge is EH30 9YJ.
Put it into Multimap for directions.

Oh by the way, I saw a car with the no. plate H3YPR last week. It's a guy from Leeds and he got it because he's known as Hyper. Funny eh?

Thats well weird. I was gonna get the h3ypr plate but he obviously bought it before me! What car is it on? I have been known as Hyper all my life cause i have ADHD. Gives me sh*t hot reactions and loads of energy so i aint complaining.

I'll follow those instructions! Thanks dude!

Alright Boys, Just back from my hols and have no offshore trips planned so should be able to make this. Was wanting to get the car in for a bit of paint but probably wont have time. Anyway I will be heading down and probably my brother aswell. Will try and meet up with some of you at Makro.

Craig / Matty got the gear knob and fitted it at lunchtime today Thanks to you both!!!

Cheers
Si

He meant i'll be joining the convoy at Stonehaven. Unless you've had some sort of premonition

It better be a grale because you've changed your car and not your mums cinq.

Yeah,

What I meant was that Matt will be joining us at Stonehaven, pointless him driving to Aberdeen only to drive back down again..

Problems with your car Matty?

Honestly, if I had the money I'd snap your coop up.

Any of the Aberdeen guys up for going out for a few beers on the Saturday night before this.

Note, i said a few beers, as we dont want to be unfit or unwilling to drive in the morning.

Hmmm, I will pass on this as I'm out on a works night out on the Friday so I'll be a bit tender during Saturday and I don't want to ruin Sunday.

What about the Central belt boys where are we meeting up?? Went over the bridge on Sat morning and it was rather busy so it might be prudent taking the scenic route up the crook of devon road to avoid the rubbish. Only thing is where to meet, maybe the petrol station next to the roundabout before the kincardine bridge?? Not long guys so lets make a decision.

Also when we were talking about a central meet what about at X-treme karting in Larbet. I know the owners and we could get a go in the karts as well as use their facility if i ask nicely. Just a thought.

How's about the Jet garage out past the old NEC? We can then go along the broxburn road if you like. 9 sounds fine too. The weather looks like it will be dry at least.

I've got a new bit of work coming up, which means more dosh and less days so I really need to do some prep for it this weekend.

Have fun guys, I hope the sun shines for you!

Still unsure wether I am going to make it tomorrow. Washed the car anyway just in case and now wish that I hadn't bothered as the tiny stone chip that I had has now turned into a huge chip and the paint around it is starting to bubble not impressed what so ever. So if I am there will see you guys if not hope you all enjoy yourselves.

That's a shame Fergie, I think we were all looking forward to seeing it, still, maybe in time for the carting that looks like it might happen later in the year?

I've just to get fuel in the morning and I'm sorted.

I could have taken the car today and just driven carefully, but its pointless when its only a 1/3 mapped

Also need to switch the front bumper and a few bits and pieces. MAYBE make Crail for USSC next Sun...

Was hoping to make it myself, but sadly car is stuck in the garage.
Having just had all the belts and clutch done, the guys had rebuilt everything to find that the clutch is inop.!

Turns out that when they were offering the gearbox back up to the engine, part of the bearing had come loose and dropped into the gearbox! Luckily they hadn't turned the car over before realising their mistake or this may have cost them a pretty penny or two.

Rebuild number 2 is now firmly under way, and I hope to have the car back by Tuesday. (Too Late!)
Maybe I'll be able to make it next year, and should there be any opportunities for other meets in Scotland, perhaps we could get there.

Keep posting your Scottish meets guys.

Unfortunately there was a slight technical problem which means all the footage taken on my camera on the way down is no longer in existance.

Got some ok footage on the way back up though. Can see it here

Also, all my photos from today plus some other random coupe ones are in this album.

Sorry Matty, no video of you shooting flames.

BTW, did anyone else get sunburnt today or was it just me?

There seems to be a bit missing off the end of that video. The bit where we're just coming up to my turn off.

No idea why, it's on the file that i uploaded

If I didn't have porto I'd have your colour.
Don't see any that colour round our way, lad in work wants a coop and I told him to get the same colour as yours!!

Looks like you had a great day, so glad I stayed here in the pishing down rain!!

When did you swap your wheels Matty? Pretty sure you had Azevs on there before, or maybe I am going mad. Cars all looked great too guys.

So far in 3 years up here i've only managed one SICD.

Glad you all had a great day, if I knew my day was going to drag on like it did I could have been along to see you guys for a couple of hours. The show my daughter was at ran about 3 hours late, so she wasn't on until 3pm. Like some of you guys I have woke up this morning with a sunburned face, either that or wind burn.

I could have sworn he had Azevs too. Pretty sure it didn't have LE wheels last time I saw it, but then I do have the memory of a Goldfish so it wouldn't surprise me if I am wrong!!

Great Pics Che and Remo. Che I never noticed you taking that picture when I was getting rid of the 1000's of flys that were adorning my front bumper

And Remo, think these 2 guys are going to get into trouble for standing in this guys car clicky

The Alfa guys who organise this are very accomodating, so as we seem to have gained quite a few new Scottish members this year, I thought we might want to get something together for this. I have a plan, I'll post something up as it comes together
