Anyone up for, or available on a Sunday and a meet for lunch between now and September? Possible venues: - Falkirk, with visit to Kelpies or Wheel - Roman Bonnybridge (for the historians) with walk along Rough Castle/Seabegs Wood (Antonine Wall) - Stirling (Wallace Monument or Castle) - Or a trip West of Glasgow in Silver_Fox's direction to say hi if she feels like coming out to play I can only do July 17th, 24th, 31st and August 21st & 28th, but that doesn't stop anything else

Will most likely attend if date chosen is 31st July but please don't let that influence the decision.

I'm up for this but would prefer if not Kelpies or Stirling Castle as the Lego family have visited these a lot.

Hi Folks!
Thanks for your thoughts. I'm still recovering and hope to be fighting fit again in the next month.
I had started a thread a while ago for a
"trip doon the watter"
I'd suggested Sat 30th July because Sunday down here can be hit or miss.
It would be great to see a troupe of coupes down here as a few of my colleagues and a local garage all think I'm mad for splashing the cash love on mine.
If you guys are up for it I can arrange a pretty decent fish supper...although can't guarantee the weather!

You did indeed Dee, apologies for not having attributed that Good to hear you sounding positive though and seeing as you'll be around 6 weeks 'in' it would be great to get something off the ground even if it were fairly self-contained or perhaps in two stages - a shorter and a more extended for those available. You being the best-placed your comments about a Saturday job we should take on board and canvass support for say 30th July as you suggest. 1. silver_fox 2. Edinburgh

Hi everyone, very tempted for 30th July. We can leave Kirkwall on Friday night arrive Aberdeen 0700 on Saturday morning by ferry. can you let me know where you are talking about meeting exactly? Need to work out how long a journey from Aberdeen and if we can get back for 17.00 return sailing same day. If not, could be possible to get a ferry on Sunday instead.

Hey Scouse!
Welcome along! - it'll be great if you can make it- please try!
At this point, the plan is obscure-but I have today put out feelers for a specific destination that I have in mind and am awaiting a response.
Hope to have a concept within the week...
Watch this space... That's the plan, but with a herd of girl wannabe karters at scotkart, may prove difficult, but we will see....

Hi folks!
Great to see list growing.
I've been in hospital again and had a wee procedure. Now in the recovery stage and unable to drive still.
I've been asked if destination is flexible but to be honest I'll still be off work and don't want to be driving too far so staying local and welcoming visitors would be my preference.
Please don't let me hold back any plans that might attract fellow coupsters from further afield though.
I'll keep an eye on the thread and hopefully I'll be fitter and able to come along.
Dee

If non-coupes are welcome, I'll try and free up space to make it along. I spent my first few years just down the road in Innellan.

Nice Steel Grey on ebay just now...2.0 20v n/a 1998 low mileage sitting at £820.00 although reserve not met...not mine lol Innellan is a lovely end of the peninsular and where I initially wanted to stay but ended up at the top end with lovely views over the Holy Loch.

Hey, everyone and Dee especially, sorry to hear you have had a bit of a setback but hope you are now on the right track. Of course, guys, organise something close to Dee, I am sure it will be a great tonic for her to see the coupes and enjoy your company. If I can't make it because it is too far south, no worries, we will all meet up for a longer road trip later.
I'll keep an eye out for where you decide and see what is possible, but running the business makes it hard to get away at this time of year for more than a couple of days. (Which just about gets me down to John O Groats !!!!)

How do folk feel about Callander..? That certainly works for us, only 2.15 hours drive from Aberdeen ferry. We dock at 0700 am so can easily make a day of it. As I said before, happy to go with the flow, especially for Dee and catch up with you all another time. Maybe Simon is onto something with two meets.

Could everyone stretch to something like Aberfoyle or Balloch ?
Thoughts please
We 'might' just be able to tease out a result here...!

Why thank you sir..... After a flashback of nearly 50 years it dawned on me that somewhere off the track as it were is up near the Sma' Glen along the Perth/Methven/Glenalmond/Amulree route Proposed Route first of all lunching at Pitcairngreen Inn I think silver_fox will probably join us at a more local meet to her at a later date

That works for us, booking ferries tomorrow. Simon, can you give me a rough idea of when you think we will finish the drive, it will help me to work out how far north we can get after and therefore where to book accommodation for the Saturday night.? What I factored in was you having the option to split at Ballinluig on the A9 and head north while the rest of us turn back towards Central belt (except maybe jimbob13). If lunch is at 1.00 we should aim for 1245 to meet up - is that do-able for you? Allow an hour + and leave at 2.30-ish for the 44-mile trip as far as Ballinluig, which in theory is 1 hr 15 mins but factoring in stops could add an hour + on top of that.....so we could say 5.00 p.m. at Ballinluig?

Thanks very much. Yes, no problem meeting at 12.45. In fact we will probably be there well before as we arrive in Aberdeen at 0700. We will have a look round the local area.
Rest of the day works out fine too. Once again, thanks for your help as always Aarrgghh Tourists !!!! No space on Aberdeen boat for normal people. Not to be deterred. Now leaving from Stronsay 0730 to get Pentalina to Gills on 29th. Drive down, overnight, meet up, drive up, overnight, drive up, two ferries and home Sun 31st at 20.30 How much do I love you guys ???

Sorry Dianne, looking back at the thread there has been some hee-hawing between the two dates, including moi, having originally proposed the Sunday then as you mention after silver_fox's post I have changed to Saturday! You have booked ferries etc aiming for a meet on Saturday 30th Julyso without question that is what we'll do! And I've amended the thread title. I'll amend the reservation for lunch tomorrow - still looking for confirmation from some....?

Ok, lunch now reserved for 1230 on Saturday 30th
The slightly earlier time is because they're preparing for a music festival due to start at 3.00 and they were anxious we might be 'put off' by the noise....
1. Edinburgh - confirmed 2. Rosso x2 - confirmed 3. dante giacosa 4. driley x2 - confirmed 5. Bern x2 + 3 family - confirmed 6. Paulie3 - confirmed (+mate?) 7. jimbob13 + family - confirmed 8. Lego
Brian, do you want me to mention Toto and Nero?

Crikey that was a shock!
Yes- I had always thought it was a Saturday myself.
In case it will affect booking figures- I think I will be attending with at least one other.
Simon- Thankyou for taking this on with the lunch venue.
Dianne- I'm so glad you are able to juggle travel arrangements to make it!

There are no cancellations, so karting is on for daughters posse of wanabe Schmachers, sadly again...i will miss this meet. Need some luck fo the future though.

Ha! I was just about to email you and ask if your journey began this morning!
Good luck, Dianne- hope the super-ferry is a good crossing- you'll have to tell me about it tomorrow, as I've never used it...
Drive carefully- 'looks like' an alright day for a journey down...

Lucky to have kind weather all day and great company as always, also to see plenty of kids getting into the swing of joining in with their wacky parents Top marks to Dianne and Paul in particular for their major commitment in joining us for all too short a time, especially as fate caused a delay or two for those coming north in getting the day kicked off. Our wee convoy of around a half dozen coupes turned not a few heads in many places and en route Eee it's good fun driving these

Thanks, Jimboy! Shame you couldn't make it. Here is an attempt to show all the cars that attended- we seemed to fail to get a group-parking shot..

yes great to see everyone again and to meet Paul and Claire. Shame we missed out on the ice cream, looked good!! Had a good journey back to Tain then next morning got caught up in a slow moving convoy of 40 of Landrovers, tightly packed moving at 30-40mph. Paul had plenty of time to count them all, he was not a happy passenger, Managed to take 20 at once on the only straight on A99 then hopscotched the rest just before the Berriedale Braes. Considering the A9/99 are notorious for fatal accidents due to frustration, (lot of folk are trying to catch the ferries and on a tight schedule) this was pretty poor car club behaviour.
Thanks for the photos, always good to see, probably will not make Xmas lunch a bit too far for us mainly due to weather and travel conditions. However, look forward to hearing the planning for the next big tour. Once again, thank you to Simon and Jim for looking after us and planning the trip.

You are very kind- mostly Simon's effort, I think...!
Very glad to hear that you got back safe.
Yes- I'm beginning to know that part of the world very well, Dianne- coming South, the Berriedale Braes can be a good moment to overtake going up the hill- but I wouldn't want to do it going downwards!
40 land rovers! I would think our own touring efforts would be hampered by such numbers- lucky there's not many of us left! That can't have made for a very satisfying drive can it- for anyone involved!
You are right about the statistics- I read once that the A9/99 section there, is the most dangerous section of road in Scotland. Closely followed by the Devils Gorge in the Lake District, not a good place if you ride a superbike at over 150mph, then you go airborne.....

Perhaps there's a moral to that story, Scouse...?! Possibly, but the place is quite eerie.

First attempt at uploading some video footage. Found the clunky camera mounting with all its angle adjustments was so long as to be a bit wobbly, but have sorted that for another occasion. Perthshire coupe meet - straightest roads ever Working on another couple of short clips, hopefully less hypnotic.... Still working on West Coast Tour material

I quite like the model car on the dash, should you ever breakdown you could brum it about in a layby while waiting for a tow. Decided that sat. nav. voice very dodgy, used to have Norwegian in works van, I learned quite a bit. Lovely accent.

I can't believe some of the antics you've caught us pulling on camera there!
We'll be lucky to keep our licenses after this gets out... Haha Jim, I thought you were serious and actually watched it twice thinking I had missed something.

Cue scratch-hop version of that Benny Hill tune?
Oddly in HD on my screen there is a copper coloured car. In 360p it is a red car. At first I thought a respray had gone very wrong!

Will have to wait as studio in 3 different locations at present, but something for the future. `You lot` reminded of `this lot` for some reason. https://www.youtube.com/user/LordAndrewDCLXVI ...which I came across some time back while looking for some very scenic drives. Hope you like.
