Given the success of the last two Bristol weekenders, and the fact that people tend to book up their Xmas's early, I figure it's time to start organising our Christmas get together.

I don't think watching the Grand Prix will be a requirement as they start coming on at stupid o'clock or be finished depending on when we end up arranging this for.

So as most people tend to stay at Cassa De HoveDan. Would you (Dan) like to put forward a suggested date?

It's about time Leighton did some work and organised something. Karting would be good, there are a couple of good ones locally.

I'm game, where is this Cassa De HoveDan of which you speak?

I saw it in some brummie tour guide. Apparently it's a nice place up in Southmead, but the plumbing isnt great and prone to blockages. tongue

So rumour has it he is meant to be organising something...

Hint hint Leighton. December is almost booked up for me, and there's a track day I've my eye on. And my finger hovering over the buy it button!

Dan, shall we just arrange for one of our sessions (highlights of the previous one include my technicolour smile and Dan walking into a cleaners cupboard trying to find the exit to a nightclub. thumb

Then we can drag Joe, Reuben and the rest along if they wish, and Leighton isnt under the kosh to arrange something, but at least we then have this in our diaries and if he does make some arrangements, we're fine.

I'm going to to visit family on the Friday night so I'm aiming to have a chilled weekend without having to rush tbh.

What are people doing Saturday 17th?

Maybe we should have a pole?

Dan you horrible man... I am suffering here with viral pneumonia. If I cough one more time my 'effing stomach is going to come up through my mouth and my head explode sick

Now then, this is what I was going to propose:

Afternoon karting session (here)
Early evening drinks (nice traditional pub)
Dinner (venue to be decided)
After-dinner drinks

Do we have a confirmed date for the 17th?

Looks like it'll be another awesome weekender, and with no F1 GP we wont need to get up at silly o clock either.

Which puts a nice sunday pub lunch on the cards aswell, if people aren't jetting away to trackdays and whatnot. Or can still face the thought of food whilst their previous night's meal still sits in Dans sink.

UPDATE!!

I have provisionally booked the karting for 12.30pm for eight drivers. The cost is a little more than I expected at £41.95 per person. Should anyone wish to join, we can take up to 12 drivers for this slot (but minimum payment of 8 to book). The format is as follows:

Practice - 5 minutes
Qualifier Race - 10 minutes
Grid Start Race - 15 minutes

Top three drivers climb the podium and receive trophies. The session is exclusive to us and will be completed by 1.45pm. We can then head onto a pub for a couple of hours before preparing for the evening and dinner.

So if you would like to confirm karting I will need payment by Tuesday evening! Paypal (gift) would work best for me, pm me for the address.

Sorry all, but I'm out of this weekend now. Kids and Christmas visits this weekend. I have even less free time this time of year and what little I do have needs to be booked 'whilst I've got it' frown

What an excuse!

I pay up, and then an hour later you pull out?!

If you're scared of being made to look like a sissy mary on the karting track, you just had to say.

We'll sort this out at Spa next year, if you're too scared to do a track day in the UK beforehand? tongue

That was back on the 24th. Things are never concrete with my domestic situation!

As for bringing them to karting, maybe they can make up the numbers chinny

So what's the score with this? As we dont have 8 people, is it a case of another 18 holes of the Augusta'esc golf course at Cabot Circus? laugh

Ok the deal is thus...

For six drivers we can make up the difference for the other two spaces, this would increase the cost to £55.93! The alternative is that we change the booking from exclusive track use to an open session (max 10 drivers), so there will be potentially four randoms mixing it in with us. The track time is the same i.e. two 15 minute sessions, but there is a benefit in that it is cheaper at £32.95!!

So what say you drivers?

What happens if they cant find 2-4 other people to join us? Do we still get our go at the cheaper price, or would they just refund us our money and cancel it?

It is up to them to fill the other four places, we drive regardless at the £32.95 price.

I shall change it now to the cheaper price, and we shall just have to see what randoms join in. You never know, you might race against the future Hamilton and beat him!!

Sorry chaps for the late reply, I haven't read this thread in a few days!

If you want to go karting then it would be best to call up direct on 0844 4109109 and see if they have any spaces left for the 12.30 session i.e. say you would like to go karting on Sat 17th around midday. As it is an open session, they may have already filled some or all of the other six places, I know Joe is looking to bring a couple more.

I will update the meal venue once I have confirmed a booking.

Do we have any further updates on karting numbers and subsequent diners?

Given that most non Bristol residents we will be heading back home the same day, I have decided to make the meal early evening i.e. 5.30-6pm. After the karting we will go to the local pubs before walking onto the restaurant.

I believe the fastest man on the day was Martin. There wasn't an awful lot in it between all of us. Although Truffle was pretty slow with his hangover smile

4/5th? I'm away for a friends birthday in Manchester that weekend.

18/19th is good though?

Great day guys!

I promise next time i wont go out the night before, thats 2 Bristol meets now where i've been 'lacking' on the day due to a hangover.

I think we should do some kind of endurance kart racing next time laugh Everyone came away complaining about how their arms , shoulders, chest, back etc ached except me. tongue

And they were only 15 minute sessions, lets get a 2 hour session going. Then i can win by defualt as all the other drivers are too unfit to continue. woohoo

(I was faster than Leighton though, but he started whinging that the timings must be out. "Tag Heuer my arse" were his words laugh )

Oh and Joe nono such a dirty driver tongue
